First,Why would they do a event on Japanese ANIME. Anime is cartoons.

In case you were blind, I was obviously replying to the person above me who didn't understand my statement and that person isn't you, are you purposely trying to start an argument with me? "cause that was awfully rude of you, not only you ignored the statement that I wrote in my other post where I explained it's about prejudice, how the members of tfm community here chose to hate the anime medium as whole. Surely I mentioned racism, I suggest you read my other previous posts to get a sense of what i was trying to say and not make your own conclusion that would totally dismiss the entire point of my statements and turn it into your favor.

First of all, let me repeat myself, i doubt majority of Japanese ppl who hate anime, they practically grew up watching anime like Doreamon and Sazae-san, and it's not usual to see students purchase magazine like Jump or other Shueisha magazines. Manga and Anime are such a big part of Japanese culture, you are telling me there exists reverse-weeboo japanese people who hate their own culture? Ask anyone on the street in Japan if they hate anime as a medium, not particular genre or cosplay stuff or what anime but anime itself. Actually, there are youtube videos of this where the youtuber asks question about anime to Japanese people, particularly about the topic of otaku, which again I mentioned earlier in my other post. Anyway, Yes, some people might answer they don't watch anime like how I don't watch Korean animation, does it mean I hate all Korean animation? Or they might answer they don't like a particular genre or cosplay stuff, and that is about it. Can you really say they sincerely hate anime? At least when it comes to Japanese people, they are well-aware what anime is, since to them, anime is no different than .. actually, I see you said the same thing already and yet you ignored the point of my statement in my other post when I wanted to talk about the wrong of stereotyped belief. Meanwhile, it's the reverse situation here, factors like cultural difference and misconception lead to people treating anime as a totally different thing.

Please stay on topic. I'm confident OP's question can be answered without going into lengthy discussions on prejudice / discrimination / respect for other cultures.

As for the idea itself... I'm rather indifferent. It's probably doable (even when considering copyright), but clearly it's something that people either love, hate or have no idea about. As such it may not be the most suitable subject for an event.

but yeah, steriotyping / there-so-much-more-to-japan aside this has the same problem a "film event" or a "book event" would have, in that the subject matter is so varied you could never make it feel like a film/book/anime event without ripping some direct well known parodies like spielberg/shakespear/myazaki

the only way i can think of would to be a "anime-industry" type event showcasing how the media is made. like for film it would be a "holywood" event where you went though sets collecting spools/film reels. Or for books it would be running round a study collecting manuscripts. I dunno how that would transfer to "anime" without it coming across as "manga/graphic novels/comic" as the only way I can think to show off how it's made would be something to do with storyboards and they are essentially comics anyway.

or maybe i'm thinking too much about a suggestion somebody probably made after they watched loads of anime and played loads of mousegame and just thought "oh they should mash these together!" rather than what that event would actually contain...
