| I just got a few maps together quickly to show that there were better maps out there, we played them a bit with a few people. I wasn't sure what people would say about @4819398, i put it through because it was just so simple and suprisingly difficult to survive with a shaman who knew what to do. Me and a few people were wondering where these tests happen because obviously it would be much easier for everyone if we could voice any criticisms before the maps have been permed. |

Bumcream a dit : The first one is the best one out of the five. It is simple yet enjoyable. I feel like the second one would be a bit too easy for the mice. The three last ones are too easy for the shaman. On the third one mice can barely move away, the fourth one too, and shaman could even kill everybody by just spawning during the countdown. The last one mice don't have a lot of "good" spots to stay and wait to dodge the cannons. I'll test them in public a bit later. I usually test them in the french survivor rooms, and I ask a few survivor regulars what they think about it. Jacob tests them in EN and I don't know about the others who test them out. |

Barrydarsow a dit : I wouldn't say one public room is enough to represent the whole survivor playerbase either. You'd need to test the maps in question in various survivor rooms across two servers or so to get a decent enough idea of whether people approve of them or not. |

| Changing servers to test maps is more of a burden than actually helpful, we do not have the ability to change servers like mods. We do test in various public rooms on the community we are in at the time. And we can't exactly read the chat of another language to properly gauge whether they like it or not, just if they hate the map. Mapcrew does checkpoints when they have time. I have time this weekend and P7 has gotten big so I decided to take care of it, didnt even know you posted here lol. |

| Surely with the international server you can do the tests without having to worry about changing server. I see people from all over the place in room Survivor and S1/2. and you would get a good range of opinions because there are often a few experienced players and a lot of players who play enough to have an opinion. More people than you'd think actually experienced survivor as a Holz minigame and at the right time you can get lots of experienced people. If spare time is a problem for the special tests then why not try a voting system like the normal rooms have. Whereby the maps are played for a week or so and have to get a 75% approval rate. 75 rather than 50 because survivor is more select. |

| No new players are put into international rooms, which again unbalances to a select few and not new players who we also have to cater to. Also bot run minigames are even worse because most of the people who do go there are the people who just want old survivor which is why they avoid the regular rooms. There is no proper way to have a map play in public survivor rooms while also having it be voted on and doing it on the forums is unbalanced because only a set amount of people actually read the forums. Public voting is also far from the best as indicated by what p0s are still playing in public. I also doubt anything would actually get through with a 75% approval rating when its hard for some maps to even keep it about 55% in regular rooms to stay p0. |

| International survivor rooms tend not to be as consistently populated as server-based survivor rooms are. Some people, especially newer players, can't be bothered to type out /room *survivor# and would rather just click Menu>Survivor. A voting system wouldn't work because it would require exporting the map as P0 which would then cause it to appear in public rooms where people can vote on it there, thereby defeating the entire purpose of polling. P0 is unfortunately the only category that allows for in-game voting so it's nigh impossible to gauge opinion that way. For the record, you are more than welcome to post in the P3+ report thread regarding survivor maps you feel are unfit for rotation! It's a more effective avenue than basically complaining that all new maps aren't worthy of being permed. Topic-411129 |

| ok was just wondering about the voting thing as it seemed better than doing it in a room that no one seems to have been in (i asked a load of people before i knew killer did it on the french server). If you pick a good time you can get a lot of experienced people in the international room Survivor1, you only need to spend a round or two in the room before testing a map to see what the people are like. We have started a sort of survivor map contest within the tribe because we're one of the oldest survivor tribes there are and also i've extended it to experienced players i know that would be willing to make a map. I was wondering if i could put a list every so often on here or on the P10 submission. I'm asking like this because normally people are only ever allowed to submit 2 at a time. |

Muffun a dit : i understand what your saying but if one would like to be part of the public test and has no idea where you guys will be or when etc, doesn't really help much. only the "lucky" room gets to be a part of these tests...and also no one said all the new maps were bad you could have referenced the link to that reporting forum without the complaining insult aswell. but i guess you can call voicing an opinion whatever you want. |

| Ihumanl, I think I understand your frustration but at the same time I'm not sure anything can be done about it. This game is evolving, unfortunately, and I've seen the same sort of discomfort with every map category we have. Take racing for example... I've always enjoyed the minigame and when Holz got bored of it I started dealing with those maps, and while they were mostly crap, there were a few gems in there because racing maps were always made by racing players. Once racing made the transition from a bot-made minigame to a full-blown official minigame, the quality of maps decreased severely. In my opinion, map quality overall took a HUGE dive when these minigames became official because you have a lot of players looking for the "prestige" of having a perm and making a quality map takes a backseat. Map Crew has the problem of sifting through these types of maps in addition to the standards set by admins to deal with, and those usually cater to the newer players. Using racing as the example again, there was a complaint that racing maps overall were too hard. As a long time racer and the guy who mostly dealt with the category, I thought that was crap, and admins were out of touch with what racing was. Unfortunatey, I didn't make this game, so my opinoin doesn't mean much. As a result several of the more difficult racing maps bit the dust and simpler ones were permed in their place. What does this have to do with survivor? I'm just trying to draw parallels between this and my racing experience. Map crew really has the impossible job of trying to please both the players and the admin standards, and if I wasn't involved with them I'd probably feel the same way you do. It's an evolving game, and old timers like ourselves unfortunately are going to have to deal with it. The absolute best thing you can do to try to find maps that you think would be a good fit for the category. It's easier said than done, I've spent too many hours trying to find decent maps and have come up with nothing, but at least this way you're making map crew's job of finding maps a little easier and you can have some influence on which maps get looked at. Hopefully that mess I just typed made sense kkkkkk. Basically maps in all categories are getting crappier for us older players but the best thing you can do is try to find decent ones to recommend. Map Crew is the easy target but it isn't always to blame - the game is simply evolving, unfortunately. |
