|Map Crew FAQ|
The Map Crew is a dedicated team of players whose purpose is to
control the overall quality of maps, and most importantly to give feedback
to the map-making community.
You can use this thread to read more about the team,
discuss them, and ask questions directly to team members.
Members of the Map Crew have the ability to protect maps from deletion, delete bad maps, and make maps permanent (perming) so that they show up in the game more frequently. You can distinguish a member of the team from a regular user as they have a blue name both ingame and on the forums.
What is the Map Crew?
The Map Crew is a staff team that maintains the quality and consistency of maps ingame, and offers feedback and reviews of maps to members of the map-making community. The Map Crew's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
What is the Vote Crew?
The Vote Crew is a team made up of members that assist the Map Crew wherever possible. Members of this group must stay anonymous and names kept private, have no ingame powers, however are allowed to be under the age of 18. When a member of the Vote Crew reaches 18, they may have the opportunity to become a full Map Crew member. Their duties and responsibilities are as follows:
What is the Normal room map rotation?
or (Normal or Protected) › (Dual Shaman) › (Mechanism) › (No Shaman) › (Thematic)
What are the existing map categories in Transformice?
How can I get my maps permed?
You can ask a member of the Map Crew that handles the type of map in question, but the preferred method is submitting your map to the appropriate review thread, as linked below.
Note: If you have a map you wish to be Protected, submit it to one of the above threads. Module rotation is handled by the module's creator separately from the Map Crew.
A Map Crew member isn't responding to me, why?
Each Map Crew member gets hundreds of whispers asking for maps to be reviewed each day. On top of responding to PMs, handling the Map Submission threads, and all of the other duties listed above, this can get overwhelming at times. Map Crew members reserve the right to not respond to every individual whisper they receive or /silence their whispers. If you still want a map permed, you can use the methods listed in the previous question.
What can I do if a Map Crew member is behaving improperly?
If you have a problem with any member of the team, you should contact an admin directly through the contact form on the main website or alternatively come to any other member of the Map Crew or moderator team. Make sure to include screenshots, logs of conversations, and other evidence you may have.
The Map Crew consists of many members of the community. Bear in mind that not everyone specialises in all map categories, so you should check the types of map someone will review before you ask them for feedback on your map.
Note that while these are all of the public members of the team, there are anonymous members and the Vote Crew who also assist with voting on maps behind the scenes.
If you wish to contact a member of the Map Crew for any reason, you can attempt to do so through one of the following methods.
The Map Crew is accepting new members to join the team! You can find out more in the announcement thread or read below to learn how to apply.
I'm under 18, can I still apply?
Yes, but applicants under the age of 18 can only join the Vote Crew. Do not try to lie about your age, as you will have to prove it with formal ID.
Must I speak English?
Yes, and the application form must be submitted in English - any applications submitted in another language won't be considered. Every individual on the team must speak fluent English in order to communicate freely with the other members. Speaking another language too is good, but not required.
Must I be a map maker or be familiar with the Map Editor?
No. While making maps is a useful trait, the main skill you need is to be able to review other people's maps with detail and know what makes good gameplay.
Can I conceal any information about myself?
Please answer every question directly and honestly for best results. All applications are secure, and there is nothing you should feel the need to hide.
Can I apply without reviewing maps or filling out some fields?
You must fill out all required fields in the areas you're interested in. This includes the "general questions" section, and one or more of the rotation, bootcamp, survivor, and defilante categories.
How much detail should I put into my reviews?
Every map review in the application should have at least four main points: good things about the map, bad things about the map, what improvements you'd recommend the map maker make, and which perm category this map should be.
What perm types can be recommended in the reviews?
You may recommend a map to be any perm category in your reviews, including P22/P44 if you don't think a map is suitable for rotation. You can find a description of each category in this thread.
What will happen after I apply?
You'll receive a forum PM once a decision has been taken regarding your application. This process may take a few days and up to a few weeks.
Why did I get rejected?!
If you're curious about why you may have been rejected for the position, you can contact any member of the Map Crew listed on the previous tab and they can explain it to you.
I'm in! Where do I apply?
You can fill out the application form at https://goo.gl/forms/V11VIzC68yCMzKSH3

Yes, they do. Map crew members don't have any power to edit threads since they are not Sentinels. Barry was the one doing it before, but he's gone now. Therefore, they need to ask a Sentinel to update the thread. Instead of doing that, a map crew member recreated the thread, so they could update the thread faster and easier, without having to find and bother a Sentinel online.
I don't see the point on trying to argue this any further.
After becoming a simple player, Barry can no longer edit his own posts in the closed threads, so until we find a solution (and there's one possible but there're no terms when it'll be implemented) to the occured issue, there'll be no review pages list.
I guess I'll just do this for people who want to see the latest reviews:
