I'm just curious what the html forums are going to be like. If Narayan is making a forum from scratch then I can't imagine it will have too many features. It's hard enough to make the very basics, but it's extremely hard to make a fully functional forum that is on par with vbulletin or xenforo for example. I mean, those forum software has teams of people working on them and there's a ton of features that would take a really long time for 1 person to do in a short period of time. I guess we'll have to wait and see. |

Baffler a dit : Well seeing that people like how the forum is simple. I suppose they will keep it simple. |

Jaackster a dit : Yea, but Tig had the same idea for these flash forums, to keep it simple. And there's not even private messages. I just don't understand why they can't do something like steam forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/ They are built on top of vbulletin, and you know if a huge company like valve can figure out how to use vbulletin and keep it secure, surely TFM can figure out something. They don't necessarily have to use vbulletin, but just some forum that has all the features we need, and build upon that instead of starting from scratch. Just my opinion though :P |

Magicalorb a dit : I'm struggling to think of what HTML5 features they'd actually use as opposed to general HTML4/XHTML. It's easy enough to make a regular website HTML5, and putting stats on should be easy enough too, Sourdough's done that more than well enoguh with CFM, but with access to the actual database it'd be hundreds of times more efficient if Atelier did it without the API. |
