Are mods corrupt |

I don't quite see the issue. Most posts that are regarded as backseat moderating are being moderated. The ones that are not are most likely forgotten or posted in an unimportant thread. But how does not moderating such a post mean sentinels are corrupt? I don't see the link really. |

Anythin a dit : To the most of the forumers and sentinel's friends? of course they wont moderate and delete their posts. I said i wont give names. |

I'm not sure. But I think that I find some mods to be corrupt. |

Some might and some might not. These following scenarios can help you imagine: Scenario 1: Mouse 1: Mod A is my best fwiend :3 Mouse1: -spams- Mod A: Please don't Mouse 2: Mod A is not my friend :( Mouse 2: -spams- -Mouse 2 has been muted for 1 hour- Scenario 2: Mouse 1: Mod B is my best fwiend :3 Mouse 1: -spams- -Mouse 1 has been muted for 1 hour- Mouse 2: Mod B is not my friend :( Mouse 2: -spams- -Mouse 2 has been muted for 1 hour- Scenario 3: Mouse 1: Well all the mods and admins suck! Mouse 2: Yeah Mouse 3: I don't think so Mouse 4: Me either, it's their job Mod C: We're just doing our thing whether you like it or not. Stop arguing Mouse 1: No you're not, you're ruining TFM!-Moderated: Stop- Mouse 2: Yeah leave!-Moderated: Stop- Mouse 3: Guys just stop Mouse 4: Yeah you're being unreasonable Scenario 4: -same thing as Scenario 3 but everyone gets moderated after the Mod tells them to stop- I think some have problems with keeping their integrity when it comes to friends or supporters, but that problem can easily be fixed (even though everyone is biased. Sometimes you do something to protect your friend to not seem like a "fake" friend). |

I've never watched a mod muting someone or banning for Insults, flood, pishing or other reason cos of reports either. |

I have, once someone was spamming and a moderator was there. You may not see the mute but you know it's there. Also, the reports actually work, you get karma points every time someone you report gets banned or whatever the reason you reported that person for |

Gilcatmey a dit : As mentioned above you don't always see a ban or mute, they can be done privately so it will only show up to the person that gets muted/banned. But regardless of that, as long as the person you reported leaves or stops talking, your problem is resolved right? |

Ewafer a dit : You mean being biased toward certain players? I haven't seen it in this game. |

Anythin a dit : Depends on what you see as backseat moderation in my opinion, just considering that everyone has different variations of it as well as opinions on to what it is. The posts that do get moderated as backseat moderation are the ones not really being helpful, i.e "Lock this thread" and so on. However some people will take, say, linking a person to another thread and telling them that it's better fit being posted there (Such as questions belong in the Questions & Answers thread as an example) as backseat moderation. (As I'm sure you already know, but still explaining it for others that read this). To this extent it's tolerable as far as I'm concerned and can shave a tiny bit of time off from the Sentinel having to dig for the thread themselves so they can get right back to checking reports. Eh, it's really just dependant if you're actually helping or not (But don't take my word for this as a solid, everything varies such as don't post in obvious spam threads because they're better reported rather then bumping them up again). This reply's probably a bit late but I've been busy with other stuff, not like it matters though and maybe a bit off topic.. |

Shadowwinter a dit : Ive seen alot of people linking to other threads but their posts never got moderated or deleted. Also, I never said lock this thread and my posts have been moderated. |

Arber a dit : It really depends on your wording when you link someone to a thread. Saying "Ask questions in this thread next time:" will be considered as back seat moderating and your post will most likely be moderated. However, saying "You may be able to get a much more edifying answer here:" is not backseat moderating. Just because your wording may have been a bit off doesn't mean the sentinels are corrupt for moderating your post. |

Where there are people there is corruption. This also accounts for mods, there is probably some corrupt mods. Some more clear than others. |

Backseat moderating is when you instruct other users to do something, or tell them not to do something, as a Sentinel would. It's also when you say things such as "this needs locking", "this will get locked" or "lock this pls". There can be a fine line between being helpful and backseat moderating. The line can become blurred in some cases, and it's hard to make a judgement call when sentences are phrased in such a way to avoid the backseat moderating rule. As Irish said, linking to a thread may not always be backseat moderating; people are just trying to be helpful. If you want to help out, be friendly and if you must, give players advice on how they may get better answers elsewhere or how they may improve their thread. Yelling at them saying that they've done x, y and z wrong isn't helping. To avoid all of this, you can just report the thread and move on, but I understand that people enjoy posting and being helpful. Arber a dit : You haven't received a warning about backseat moderating recently, so I can't really tell what posts you're refering to. If contact me (CFM, Email) with the examples you've mention, I'd be more than happy to take a look at them and discuss them with you! |

There is one of my sanctions Sending date : 29/11/13 22:50, reception date: 29/11/13 22:50, text: Don't tell players what to do, that's backseat moderating. thank you! Like I am the only one who is telling the others what to do. I just don't really want to give names cuz i know alot of them. Also i did not mention all the sentinels do this ok |

Arber a dit : That was a month ago so and I thought we were talking about something more recent. You should've mentioned this at the time and we could've looked into it. Arber a dit : Unfortunately we cannot see what post the warning is related to so, unless you know what post it was, there isn't much I can do. Instructing somebody to do something as a Sentinel would is backseat moderating though. If you do think you've been treated unfairly on the forums, please speak to one of us (or shoot us an email which all of us will eventually see) about it. None of us bite (honest!) and will be happy to look into it. |

Here is just an example. Topic-563496 An user just gives a direct link to a thread, with no words, or anything else, and the sentinel out there just locks the thread saying that the user is right. I have done that too, and my post got moderated. |
