I dont like it when someone gives me a 'warning' for trying to help someone by saying this and this isnt allowed, and someone ELSE does it on ANOTHER thread and they get a kind of praise by the Sentinel, like "Just as ____ said" or something like that....

Well that's my friend is Buttseat (backseat ops) moderating wich is acting link a sentinel and most of the times it comes by giving direct orders, wich isn't allowed in transformice forums rules . next time just give advices kindly without any direct orders this will reduce the possibloty to get you muted by 80% and if some made a thread that's already was created just give the link of the thread without any extra text and also if you really want to avoid mute or warning just report the post/thread.

I guess the difference is fairly simple.. A post is considered backseat moderating when someone's simply reciting existing rules and tell people what to do or not. Technically, these sort of posts are off topic since few users create a topic with the sole intention of getting rules recited to them.

However, take Topic-770968 for example. Here you see someone replying by simply answering the question OP had to ask. They leave the rules and their enforcing to the sentinels.

So while both kind of posts are meant to be helpful, one is considered backseat moderating whereas the other one is considered to be helpful.

The admins have said they plan to implement this, though they dont have a public release date.

The "warnings" are often just to offer advice, we had no easy way to contact you privately on the old forums. So when you made a post saying "not sure if backseat moderating", as well as replying to a Portuguese post with "não fala português", I just warned you to say that it was backseat moderating and that instead, you are welcome to answer their question and suggest that they may have better luck posting in the portuguese section in future.

Now we have private messages so sentinels won't need to "warn" for things like this.

Somewhat, yes.

Before this addition, only the original artist could report traced artwork. With this new addition, we've made it explicitly clear that no traced artwork is allowed and it will be removed/locked even if it is reported by somebody other than the original artist.

It also addresses tracing artwork originally created by A801, which used to basically be allowed, such as tracing a screenshot of a player's mouse.

I don't really see a reason why your sanctions would be reset, especially cause you can still see them yourself in your profile.
