I'd be fine with it if they had left the friends/tribe in the menu too, and just had the buttons as a shortcut. There should really be options with these things, like being able to take out the scroll buttons and put the scroll bar back. Also being able to change back to the old UI.

They're really trying to make the game more friendly for newer players, and yes they are removing lots of things from the menu. They'll prob find a way to sort everything out so that one day the menu will just be the intro with the vector picture that includes everything that was already in the menu as of yesterday or before this update.

The new chat is coded well. It no longer autoscrolls down when a new message appears. A lot of the issues I have with it are cosmetic, along with the loss of a scroll wheel.

Tribe and Friends buttons should be moved over to the right side so that the chat box aligns nicely.

Maybe that's where you keep your cursor but not all of us do. My mouse is normally sits right below the box so if anything, it's easier to open friends and tribe. I agree hotkeys would be A+ though.

Never mind, I didn't realise that you can click the icon again to close the list, which is nice. Nevertheless I find the placement of those 2 buttons puzzling.

It not helpful for me, where can I change my font size and font style? I liked the old menu, this is just simply a dumb feature for me and just makes it more of a hassle to scroll through the chat now.

Well i hate the whispering looks all the way, but at least the buttons are more or less handy to save up some time when you're playing active. (Even though it takes a while for me to get used to them)

Ech, I don't like it. It's crowded and I'm not sure I see the point.

I can't understand why they put the friendlist/tribe buttons there. Usually, my cursor is around profile, where emotions, playerlist, menu, etc are. Now, I have to move my cursor 600px to open friendlist/tribe, which is really annoying and frustrating.
You may say, "You will get used to the new UI", but whether I get used to it is another problem. Even if I got accustomed, the UI remains poor.

I haven't seen software or an application which has scroll buttons instead of the scroll bar for years, and now I realized why.

You can still use your scrollwheel for scrolling, so that changes nothing.

You can't press tab to switch between chat tabs anymore, so if you want to go from whispering someone to normal chat you need to do /s which is not user friendly, it was a lot easier to press tab to switch between all my tabs.

Also the fact that every time I log in I check my friends list and tribe to see who is online and I always click the menu button. I'm never going to get used to those buttons in the bottom left corner. It's pretty hard to tell the difference between them as well. There's nothing that provides what the buttons are apart from guessing and being forced to get used to what they are.

It was more user friendly before to what it is now.

It's a lot easier to click and hold a scroll bar rather than having to use the scroll wheel repeatedly to get somewhere, it was also a lot faster to scroll with the scroll bar.

The scroll wheel is an alternative yes, but that doesn't really change the fact that the arrows are relatively useless besides the one that scrolls you down to the bottom of the chat instantly. You also have to keep in mind that the chat has been upgraded now to hold more messages before disappearing, with no limit of history in whispers.

Also just noticed you can't hit R in the Map Editor to reply to whispers, that's great..

I like the new chat a lot, however, the three things that irk me is

1) The amount of colors now in it is FAR too distracting.

2) The whispers look horrendous.

3) The tribe an friends thingy is confusing and out of place in chat. I would be fine with them being icons elsewhere as long as they aren't in chat, I really don't see the point.

Really, this is just horrible. I don't even enjoy chatting on here anymore. Revert to the old interface then have people test out your other interface ideas on a private server (maybe your mod team???) to see if they like it/it works.

On mine, you can scroll down by dragging two fingers down at the same time, but it's fiddly. Not sure if all can do that.

Whenever I tried this with mine, it always gets stuck in infinite scrolling mode until I tap again, so not overly reliable ingame hahaha.

i do that all the time on my chromebook.Im too lazy to use the scrollbar or arrow keys

I like the new chat, only if i could get used to it since I ALWAYS GO TO HOME TO FIND IT SINCE I'VE PLAYED THIS GAME FOR 1 YEAR.

Edit : Also, does anybody realise you can access chat by pressing enter? idk most of the people who dont like it seems to have this .-.
