Paint Tool SAI

When using the selection tool, make sure you unselect everything first (ctrl + d), and make sure you select the inner parts of the shirt ON the layer with the shirt's lineart.

If you're doing that, I'm not really sure why it's not working for you. Can you get a screenshot?
And my favorite way to use that tool is select OUTSIDE all of the lineart then inverse selection. That way you don't get annoying little blotches of no color on edges of parts of the lineart.

I made one a while ago out of the Pen Tool and a texture (which I forgot), but SAI crashed and didn't save it. D:

I love using SAI. I usually use Pen Tool...But when I use text from MS Paint on there, and try to make it transparent, it doesn't really work...

These are the pencil brush settings but it should work like a pencil :B

Coloring and shading is so much faster and smoother when working in SAI, my only complaint about it would be I miss my photoshop brushes :(
I still use photoshop for final touches, though.

you might not be on the computer's "admin" account, right click it and select open as admin

My trial epired the day before my dad put windows 8 on the computer so he redownloaded it C: I tried gimp as well but for me, lineart is hard on it :( That's why I prefer Paint tool sai :D

idk I think lineart is harder on sai since you can't get smooth lines unless you use a tablet

well i couldn't figure out how to do most things on gimp so sai is easier for me. for lineart i do i sketch and then zoom in a lot to do the actual lineart. (laptop user)

you actually can, by using the lineart tool and use the curve pen.
you can change the pressure, colour and weight, very useful~!

I think you need to have a tablet to use the stabilizer (and enable pen pressure).

The stabilizer...well...stabilizes your lines. For example, if you're drawing a line very slowly on 0, it may be really wobbly. If you set your stabilizer to S-1, it will turn out a lot more smooth.

((if you don't draw slow tho))

msoothign basically makes you slow to make it smooth

i personally have it at 3
