It's trial and failure. Just like you, we don't just slap a few strokes on a canvas and make art. We try.
And how do you think we came to be "so pro" anyway?? (using that term loosely because again--not me) Do you know how much time some of us have spent observing, tweaking, and practicing? All of us "pour our hearts into their art" as well.

And yes, I'm jealous that you have people swooning and drooling over every art that you make. But it's not just you.
There are people on these threads that probably haven't even stepped foot and actually seen my art, but are all over everyone elses. Yeah, I'm new and I pretty much have to kiss ass to everyone else, but still.

I should add that no, I don't think something pops up in yours and other artists heads and 5 min later you have a masterpiece. For me, it takes me at least a couple hours per piece. I might have something pop up in my head, but it takes a while to draw it out.

I actually influenced the idea of teams. You may consider yourself "new" but you've been doing it for a couple years. You have experience, so you are experienced whether you believe it or not.

Teams would be great. Have us helpers keep track of the teams that way you can handle all other business.
Teams meaning the experienced artists would be one team and get a different voting system than the beginning artists. Both would have the same theme, just different voting.

Example:

Team 1:
Winterflurry
Xprincessj
Broncosfan
Prooskiller

Team 2:
Shardpixel
Sirusthemice
Manicmondayy
Amusing

Team 1 would be considered the "Rookie Artists" and Team 2 are the "Experienced Artists."

If you want, I can categorize the artists into the 2 groups for a more fair voting, that way one artist from each group gets a win once in a while.

Btw, sorry for my complaining. I am technically new to this kind of art and it really does seem unfair when people who have been doing this for years win.

While a few of these aren't you, you're supporting them. It involves splitting up different groups based on "experience" into teams and using different voting methods or whatever for each group. That's dividing, restricting, and limiting both "good" and "bad" artists.
All artists are good.

And if a few years count as a lot of experience for me, then I assume you've been drawing for a while in your life and you also have that same experience?? I don't really understand how some people are considered more experienced than others.
One person who has drawn for just a year can probably be better than someone who's done it for ten years. Why? Because they give it their all, they practice, and they take advice from others and apply it.

Yeah, I have years of experience in traditional art. I've just started digital within the past few months and have taken advice on how to improve.

Ok, so maybe this thread shouldn't do teams or whatever. But I think you can agree with me that people who vote are being unfair. Your friends vote for you obviously because they adore you. Same with whoever else draws. I have no friends on here, so yeah. I'm doing it as a leap of faith.

I think voting should be discreetly about the art, and not the artist themselves. I personally vote for the better drawing, not who drew it. How it appears to be voted is this:
Joe: Ooh! Broncosfan drew this. She's cool and I like her. She's been my friend for a while so I'mma vote for her.
Bob: Who's Shardpixel? She draws good, but I don't know her well. I want my friend to win.
(This is a bit over exaggerated, but you get the concept.)

It's doubtful that this is what's happening^ but it does happen especially with younger audiences.

i know for a fact you wouldnt have argued about this game being unfair if you had won, especially since it wasnt a problem when you lost the first time.

Voters are never to blame for anything, least of all their decisions or their motives. Keep in mind that a vote like this does not have any implications. It doesn't mean that much to win or to lose, and as such it may be wise not to get too emotionally invested into it.

It's always good to voice suggestions to improve voting, but try to detach this from your own results in a vote. It may be preferable to just send ideas privately to whoever is organizing this rather than to post here. That way they can bring it up here themselves so it can be discussed without the context of someone winning and someone losing.

This is probably a good idea, because it means people will vote based on the picture, and, reversely, people can't blame favoritism for losing. As far as I can tell no one has actively rallied up their friends to send in votes, but for future votes this may still reduce the risk of this happening. Sounds fair to me.

The art made for this thread alone should NOT be judged by how popular the artist is. That's why Lemodile agreed that we should just post the art for voting so the art is judged, not the artist.

Judging how popular an artist is is why Shard and I had that argument. If that's the case, then most of us would never ever win a battle due to not being popular enough. Is that how you want it to go down?

This isn't Need For Speed and the only way you up yourself on a rank is how much respect you gain. This is art, showing it off and stuff. Yes, your art can get respect, which means you get respect. HOWEVER, it should NEVER be about the artist. That sounds extremely conceited.

I think that is actually a good idea to completely prevent favoritism. Just a picture of the art on the polls, NO names at all. (Of course, most of us know the style of everyone's art.)


Winterflurry - You should have each helper do one task. You taking everything on yourself will stress you out, especially if this thread gets busy.
Here are a couple ideas on what the helpers could do:

1. Someone take in all art submissions and create a poll.
2. Someone come up with the theme every round (along with rules, if rules apply to that particular theme.)
3. All other helpers help the contestants or whatever.

So on and so forth. As more things get added, more helpers will be available and more tasks. Right now there are 5 of us, including Winterflurry (I think) so that is more than enough to start with.
This way, all you have to do is focus on editing the forum and not stress yourself out.
