Atelier801 already has rules (Game Rules and Terms and Conditions of Use) specifically targeting "severe insulting" and "Content that is unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, suggestive, harassing, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable."

What you're suggesting seems to be stricter enforcement of those breaching these rules, but do you have any specific examples of moderators or other staff failing to adequately punish offenders? Currently, what you're discussing seems handled as best as the staff already can.

Go to any regular room with a bunch of statpadders in it, and sooner or later you will get a whisper telling you to kill yourself when you beat them often enough. Go to any random room with foreign players in it (on the EN server) and at one point in time you will be insulted in their native language, because they think you don't understand them. It's quite common to see racist or sexually inappropriate remarks thrown around because people are aware they can get away with it. It's also quite rare to see these kind of people actually get banned or muted. Prioritizing these cases can solve the issue, even though I am aware they take more time to process compared to banning a simple hacker.

I understand all of this completely. I don't disagree that a lot is happening, but it seems a little harder to moderate than hacking. Any violation of the rules that occur in private messages are more complicated than in plain sight, like hacking, for obvious reasons. These things are also reported after the fact, and it's hard to find proactive ways to deal with them. To address your point about insults in different languages, I would assume that a lot of EN moderators are not multilingual, especially not in every language that people speak. It's understandable that they not take action against those if they don't know what's being said. I am most critical of Ori's post because they basically said "We need to do more" without saying what. The reason I said "they're doing their best, it seems," is because of how complicated it all is. If I remember, correctly, staff had a hard time accepting screenshots of anything, because people were able to Photoshop them.

Your explanation makes sense, but it's not really an excuse to not do anything about these things. The EN community is considered international, so all moderators, not just those assigned to EN, have an equal responsibility to deal with these kind of reports. And regardless of that, you don't have to be multilingual to figure out the most common slurs and memorize them. People can write them down if they don't know them by heart. This surely can't be too much to ask.

Yeah, that makes sense too. It wouldn't be hard to create a shared document that everyone can edit with common bannable phrases. How would you suggest being more attentive to these things, though, in Ori's initial post? It's easy to say "just do better" but hard to say how sometimes.

It's not possible to solve those things, because all these situations that have been mentioned sprout from the sole fact that there is no real punishment on this game. People get away with criminal behaviour because the ban system is not working. As long as that isn't being fixed, no solution or suggestion in this thread will be sufficient.

i cannot believe i have to write this message.
i am literally in vanilla1 en2 right now and there are TWO bos people and only one of them is getting banned.
we keep pointing out to the moderator that there is ANOTHER PERSON but they're completely ignoring it.
and the message that was posted earlier on this thread about the same issue was completely ignored.
the admins need to get involved. this is the most unprofessional thing i have ever seen on transformice.
start listening to complaints.
the mod literally played in the same room with the other BOS person and even though people kept complaining, they completely ignored it and kept playing while that person kept being mean to people in the room.
BOTH people should be banned. this is not just me complaining. its the entire vanilla1 en2 community. this is why the other message had so many likes yet went ignored.

Reform the /ban function to make rooms more enjoyable. /ban almost never works and as a result you get many toxic people in a rooom

Hello everyone!

All of your suggestions and feedback is very well appreciated. As some of you have pointed out, there are some clear flaws with the OP and how it may be confusing to understand what kind of feedback we are looking for. This thread will be locked for now and we have a new thread ready to be made with a clearer, more straightforward OP and a new format we are going to try out.

Thank you for the wonderful activity this thread has sparked up so far. We're excited to hear more from the community in the new thread!
