To be quite fair, I sent my app before NL apps were open, on my own initiative :x I wasn't aware at the time that they would open soon after though.

I wonder if the Karma points will change the likelihood someone can get accepted in a future application for being a mod, sorry if this has been asked before.

Moderators have confirmed they don't really pay attention to karma points when sifting through applications, they pay closer attention to the application and user themselves.
