Why not increase the maps in each category? Nowadays things are changed, the only thing that never changes is the same. I think the mappers been wanting this a long time.

I completely agree with you, and we have been. When Map Crew was created, the goal was to get 250 maps in each rotation category. Unfortunately, older map crew groups were excessively picky in my opinion and that didn't happen. The first time we hit 250+ maps in any category was P5, about 6 months ago. We've been adding large filler packs to each category, and for the last year we've been adding at least 100 maps for seasonal events (Halloween, Christmas, etc).

I mentioned before we were never able to hit the 250 maps goal, look at the map count now:
P4: 261
P5: 270
P6: 480
P7: 241
P8: 299
P9: 213

I am personally all about variety and have been pushing to add more maps for years, sometimes dragging the other members into my plans kicking and screaming. There will always be map makers that judge maps very harshly as if they were works of art, and I know some that feel that way are probably reading this now, but I feel that is the wrong way to go. Even if a map is just average, the fact that it is a new map in rotation makes it interesting. Playing the same maps over and over is very boring. Remember in the old days when the map rotation was mostly P0/P1 maps? You never knew what you were going to get, and that was part of the excitement.

I don't mean this as an insult to older map crew members, because they all did a great job, but I feel the group of map crew that we have currently is the best we've ever had in terms of variety. In the older days, I was the only one trying to add 200+ maps to categories that needed it here and there and some other members fought me about it. Now, Map Crew members are joining me and contributing as well. You have Reshman to thank for adding 100 new P8 maps to the rotation recently, and Bogkitty to thank for the upcoming themed maps. Everyone else is contributing too. The survivor crew has been adding groups maps on a trial basis and removing the bad ones, and the bootcamp crew is always adding new stuff. In racing I've been cycling the maps every month to try and add variety. Next month, all the maps are going to ones you've never seen before, all from 2010-2011 as a throwback to what racing was like back then.

One problem though is that the map randomizer is buggy, so some maps play 8 times before others play even once. Even if we add tons of maps, the same ones play, and it doesn't seem like it. This was a problem years ago, I nagged Tig and he fixed it, but it's happening again. I've been nagging admins again for the past year or so to fix it again, but haven't heard back from them yet. I assume between the weekly events and all the other new stuff coming to the game, they haven't had time.

Hopefully, the map rotation will start to become new and exciting again.

/chat mapcrew is connected to #mapcrew on IRC, where multiple members are online throughout the day. Also, Ykr is very helpful, so you may have luck asking any questions there.

He did not answer a Hello, imagine a question and I think he's a little angry. I thought the /chat mapcrew is for all mapcrews or just for those who want to help.

I usually don't answer to hello either. It's easier to just answer an asked question without the small talk. /chat mapcrew is for anyone who has questions or anyone that wants to help. Personally, I've never joined /mapcrew and I don't think many other members do while they're only, but the bridge to our IRC channel is helpful if anything important happens.

I say hello to check if the person is afk or not to not waste my time.

Map crew deal with enough spam. Get your question out and if you don't get a response, ctrl-v it.

Very rarely am I asking mapcrew a question as I typically know everything with the map editor, it's normally a lot more complicated if there's ever a case where I'm speaking with mapcrew, stuff that'd go on for a while, it's not as simple as just "ask your question and move on"

because I literally just said I rarely am asking a question

My stuff can go on for about a half an hour with constant testing of certain things like map testing, it is literally not as simple as "hello x question"

I personally do not like replying to people who say hello because it usually leads to players asking me personal questions. I do not want strangers to know things about me or to insist in getting information I'm not willing to give. If someone has a question they can say hello and then ask the question directly without waiting for an answer, I'll be happy to reply to anything that isn't "perm my map" or "how old are you, where do you live and what's your phone number?"

/chat mapcrew is connected to mapcrew's IRC chat, I'm always there, I usually reply if I see the chat and someone needs something, but it's usually just:

<Mewbzz> [ES][name1] Ykr

<Mewbzz> [EN][name2] Hello.

<Mewbzz> [ES][name1] Ykr
<Mewbzz> [ES][name1] you like racing?

<Mewbzz> [EN][name3] :o

<Mewbzz> [ES][name4] hi
<Mewbzz> [ES][name4] meow

^ those are real quotes.
So please, just say hello and then ask your question in the same message, don't wait for an answer before asking because it takes longer and we might not reply to it.

Most of my questions is Hello and then the question. P5 is so hard :/ what need help.

Mapcrew a dit :
Left as is:
@3000460 - Sekui - Now the building won't be screwed but lava + cloud it's really unaesthetic.
@6267256 - Sekui - It doesn't require so much cooperation here, and the gameplay is a bit boring.
@6595896 - Bercolto - The map is unaesthetic and it's too simple and generic.
@4852002 - Picapauui - Nothing really new/interesting here, and it doesn't ask many cooperation.
@2114833 - Wangan - The gap between the grass in the middle of th map is too tight,
@6596664 - Tdpnice - Generic and simple.
@6578934 - Obsyt - It's really hard to put plancks into the gaps between clouds, the planks slide too easily.
@1448533 - Remixin - It's generic and dynamic grounds doesn't improve so muche the gmaplay.
@6598384 - Lkekolotz - Not a cooperation map.
@6597152 - Gobbek - There's nothing really interesting, the map doesn't need a good cooperation.
@6400024 - +Mistersacri - I think the map doesn't need a good cooperation here.
@6577601 - Joeprooxxdd - Generic, nothing really interesting.
@4448152 - Framnm - It's enjoyable when blocks are turning around themselves but when theya are moving down it's really annoying, you can't do a stable building.
@3851416 - Framnm - Not interesting, the cloud is too big, you can't do something great with that.
@5067142 - Bataatiinha - There's some useless spaces like the one just next to the blue shaman's departure, and the gap next to the mice's departure is too tight.
@6602694 - Apollopolo - Looks like others ice/grass maps, nothing new.
@6273552 - Cowbty - Generic, dynamic grounds don't offer a better gameplay and it's boring to build everything under without any ground.
@6556551 - Nukualofa - Also a generic ice/grass map.
@6604623 - Yl0we - That's generic and a bit build-a-thon.
@2995200 - Reppam - Not sure this map need cooperation, it's easily enough for a shaman.
@6608816 - Reppam - Nothing interesting which asks goog cooperation.
@6607126 - Andrelionte - Generic, and nothing intersting/new.
@6608607 - Apollopolo - The wind is just too strong here.
@6610689 - Suwns - Not really interesting, and boring to build.
@6610698 - Suwns - Generic, nothing new.
@5768563 - Viniciusdara - The dynamic grounds are not interesting; shamans just have to put a planck on it ... Th gamplay is not so good.
@4258251 - Corrers - The geometric separate thing doesn't have any interest because the bottom is not separate. Gameplay is lacking here.

P1'ed:
@5027899 - Picapauui - The map doesn't need cooperation, that's pretty easy but that's enjoyable.
@6586058 - Tdpnice - I think it's not adapted for cooperation but it's funny to build on.
@6609803 - Joeprooxxdd - Generic but great to build around.
@755846 - Dollyblue - Classic and generic.
@5993994 - Hybinkunduz - Looks nice, and interesting but nothing really new.

Will be discussed:
@1623334 - Wangan -
@6517484 - Obsyt -
@6560419 - Ratufufu -
@6599584 - Dprocik -
@5993993 - Hybinkunduz -

Ignored:
None

The map submission limit for the P10 category is now 3, not 5

Submissions of over 3 maps will be ignored!

Yeah, it's because you surely have many maps submitted in P10 thread, compared to before (before, there weren't so much submissions so they had enlarged the limit)! It's a better idea, I think ^^

Please, create a topic about Blacklist. I searched the whole forum and did not find any topic talking about it. I think it would be a good topic in the map Editor Section.

Blacklisting is a punishment mostly used if you copy maps by another player. Being blacklisted means that your maps will not be accepted in map submission threads. You can also get blacklisted for other reasons, e.g. for bad behaviour or posting your maps to multiple categories or multiple times to same category without editing.

http://atelier801.com/topic?f=6&t=637846&p=1#m1

Quite simply, if you copy someone's map, you will be blacklisted for a month. If you continue to copy maps, you will be blacklisted for a longer amount of time, and eventually you will be blacklisted permanently and all of your maps will be deleted.
