Note: These are just my personal observations and opinion P18 doesn't get reviewed not because we're lazy and don't feel like doing it, not because we don't care about the minority of people that play it, not because we can't afford to spend a bit of time sorting it out on top of everything else we do but simply because there is no one in mapcrew who actively plays defilante to be familiar with the map rotation and know the necessary things to look for in a good defilante map. Emphasizing a point Killerlux mentioned earlier, it's been almost 2 years since defilante has been last reviewed and we have yet to receive a single complaint from someone that actually plays defilante, all the complaints have been from mapmakers that don't play in defilante regularly. It could very well be that the 200 or so defilante regulars are happy with their map rotation and don't want us to change it, in which case it wouldn't be fair for us as individuals whom spend little to no time playing the minigame to go and change things. If you know a defilante regular that can communicate well in english, can clearly and concisely tell a good map from a bad defilante map and is mature then by all means ask them to apply to mapcrew to help us out with defilante!

I would review Defilante if regular Defilante players asked me to. However since I became mapcrew I have only ever received a single whisper about it not being reviewed, from a player who just wanted perms. If Defilante players made their voice heard, however few they may be, we will still hear it. So far the only people who I have seen complain about this are non-Defilante players. This is why I have personally never bothered with the category. I am not too busy or have better things to do, Defilante players just do not appear to care enough to try to get new maps. I doubt they are thinking "well the Mapcrew just ignores us, it's a lost cause" because if they believed in such a change hard enough they would stand against us, just as you are doing.

Hey nobs, Survivor crew is looking for some simple P24 maps with normal grounds. Nothing too fancy. There are only 10 P24 maps at the moment so some more would be nice. Go submit them here: http://atelier801.com/topic?f=6&t=795787&p=1 BR: http://atelier801.com/topic?f=6&t=791628&p=224#m4470

Question: is there a particular reason why bootcamp submissions don't receive comments the way maps in other categories do? I can understand if the submission process itself is more time-consuming than usual, but I can't imagine it would take very long just to add a little comment about why each map was rejected.

I'll nag a bootcamp nob to come answer you when they wake up but at least with racing, I never gave comments because I felt it was a huge waste of time. In just a couple weeks over 250 maps can build up, and to comment on each one would double or triple the time spent. Often it just comes down to maps simply being not fun so I'd just be repeating myself anyway. I've always tried to give feedback about specific maps that weren't accepted when asked privately though, so long as the person stays cordial about it. I imagine you can PM some of the bootcamp crew and do the same if you want.

Exactly the same reason as Barry said. It's just no fun doing it if you have to repeat the same message over and over again. And yes, you can PM me when you want a review of your map, there are more people who do this.

I still feel giving each map a little mini-review would be more efficient for players as well as map crew, since it's often hard to catch a MC member both online and not afk. I don't see why it's necessary to break convention for this mode in particular when the same reasons (ie not fun) often just as easily apply to submission in any gamemode.

If you think it's hard to contact them though whispers, just send a PM, they would answer you

The bootcamp team is very small, so it is likely that they do not do this because it is always the same few people reviewing, and it would discourage them from actively reviewing the thread to have to spend many extra hours writing reviews that most people do not read anyways. The rotation team is much larger so they can distribute the workload evenly. The survivor team is pretty small too but we are super cool so we write reviews anyways.

not sure if this is the place to ask this but... do you know the defilante prop hunt maps? I love the idea, I've just been watching gmod prop hunt videos on youtube. But it's not working: instead of turning into objects, the mice just disappear (except the usernames). could someone fix that, if it even can be fixed? I'd really like to try playing it (or is it just me who's not seeing the objects?)

Shalander a dit : Maps have been P22'ed Cedieri a dit : Mapcrew do not deal with minigames or minigame maps, your best bet would be to contact the minigame creator instead. |
