Great idea that could make for some interesting strategys and constructions. I support this. |

This block has some great potential but also some annoying drawbacks. So I'll go over the ones I noticed when hearing about it. Pros: The cactus block allows for much smoother gameplay rather than the slowly teleporting away to its death mouse (visual of when a mouse touches lava due to the framerate). Bootcamp as you have mentioned would benefit greatly from this because death can only be produced with falling below the floor or out of the barriers usually produced by lava, but with cactus we will be able to place it within compact areas but still have the danger factor. I especially like the popping of balloons (balls is a novelty, but who uses balls in general builds anyway?) because it could force the shaman into building rather than balloon spam. Obviously the cactus would have collision with mice off for this. I suppose putting a layer of cloud over would display the ghosting better. All I'm imagining from the balls however is a cage of balls containing the cheese, and knocking a block out of the way to drop them onto a cactus, making the path clear for mice. Cons: Right off the bat this ground can and will be abused in the map editor to make some god awful maps. I mean we have some tacky maps in rotation now, but if you throw cactus into the mix it isn't going to do any good for maps of that, um, 'genre'. This might become an abused ground in bootcamp, because of how useful it is. I mean don't get me wrong it would be nice to add the challenge in there. But if every map contained it, it would become more of a nuisance rather than a fun challenge. Sort of like how you know that a cage is going to block your path in map 61 and lose you a potential first due to it becoming an unwanted pingtest. The current death animation doesn't really apply to it. I can imagine mice drowing in that potential sea below us represented by the bubbles. But touching a cactus and exploding into bubbles? The animation would need to be altered to fit the cactus (nothing gory, mind you). Not to mention bubbles covering the screen in bootcamp would drive me more insane than when trying to TA with 30 mice doing the exact same thing. Conclusion: A rather unique ground that could be implimented into the game and used to make some nifty aswell as terrible maps. However maps which are permed are likely to use the ground in moderation, therefore. SUPPORT. |

Thanks so much Justin. <3 I agree completely with you on a lot of your points, except really the god awful maps. There will never be an end to these terrible maps being added by not-so-smart mice, and the lesser use of lava can only help in that case. As for the death animation, I had a shaky idea about using the mice who hit it as stepping stone corpses, with their dead bodies being impaled on the needles as walkways. It would be much more inovative, but probably a bit over the top. |

This is cool idea, and i love the art on the ground, too. Good idea cause now you would have the danger of dying without going out of bounds, with the exception of the lava. For the mice becoming stepping stones, i dont really like that, cause in bootcamps people might get in the way, and it would take away that obstacle of having to get around the ground. As for the animation of dying,i dont think it would really matter if you still burst into bubbles. You have all my support. |

Yeah, I'm not sure about the stepping stones idea either. Seems a bit much? AMIRITE? |

i've always interpreted the death animation to mean that mice consist of bubbles, rather than blood and guts, since this is a kid-friendly game. i don't think it needs to be changed just for this purpose. |

Justinsalo a dit : But yeah since this has become the topic of discussion. Bubbles as I said would become an irritating distraction in bootcamp. But becoming impaled on the pricks of a cactus doesn't sound very good for the kiddies or my stomach. The only idea that goes through my head at the time (therefore there is probably a good few ideas better, feel free to post them) is PLAYER SPECIFIC bubble death. Kind of like when we go into the mousehole and get +16/14/12/10 or +1 with death, we simply turn into bubbles with a +1 however no one sees the animation but the one who caused it. This could always be bootcamp specific since that is what is making me tear my hair out over the idea of bubble animation death. |

I actually really like that idea, disabling other mice's bubbles. It would also lower lag! |

I love the idea of bloons and balls poping it's briliant, but the mice instatly dieing, nah, i think they would stick on there instead. so..... /half support, still interested |

I support cactus blocks. Lava is not a sufficient "killing" ground, since not only does it not kill in enclosed maps, but unaltered lava can be beaten just by jumping at the right time after bumping into it. Plus we need a way to suicide in maps that don't let us go off the screen at all. |
