Why aren't deleted posts deleted for everyone except for the poster, so that they can see why it was deleted? What's the point of having a bunch of posts with red text saying "Deleted because *reason*" everywhere? Nobody needs to know that. For some reason, this forum is so limited. You can't delete your own posts, you can't edit poll threads, you can't help the moderators by helping other users, et cetera. I've never seen a forum that's as limited as this. I'm not trying to bash on this website or Atelier 801, I'm just confused and curious. Please do not take offence. |

I don't think there's any way for the mods to actually get rid of the post, only to delete the words the person typed up and replace it with "Deleted because..." |

Izupen a dit : Okay, that makes more sense. Why, though? Why can't they just implement a feature where staff members can delete posts? |

well the "helping other users" thing is back seat modding and it's usually a rule in all successful forums |

Telling people what to do is not the same as helping people. The difference can be quite narrow but in general you can give suggestions about where people can find specific information or help them with forum issues. Pointing out that someone has to post their stuff elsewhere adds nothing to a thread. You cannot close the thread nor move it elsewhere. The only thing you'll do is put the (off-topic) thread on top of the list while it has no discussion value whatsoever. Therefore it's best to leave such threads up to a Sentinel, who can close or move the thread. Sentinels have the ability to delete threads, as well as revert them. Your suggestion to only make moderated messages visible to the player in question would make sense, but I guess it's a design choice to make the "moderated" message visible for everyone. This forum was built from scratch, so certain features simply haven't been thought of or it's somehow impossible to implement it. However, that doesn't stop you from suggesting these things in the suggestions subforum (as long as they haven't been suggested yet). Currently, only TFM staff is able to edit polls. |

Sentinels do have a hard delete, but it's used sparingly. It's better, imo, to see the posts moderated because: A - People see sentinels doing their job B - If you saw a post previously and it is now removed, then it tells you that maybe that thing that was done shouldn't have been done. Anythin a dit : Exactly this. It is 200% in your wording. "Next time, go to [x] instead of [y]" is super different from "you can give [x] a read and see if it helps." I think a prime example would be with the post I made in your thread regarding your warning last night, where I said "give the Sentinel FAQ a read perhaps." It wasn't a command (although I admit it would've been better if I ended it in a question mark, so I apologize -- was tired), and I posted it so that you could give it a read and see how to contact Dracoleaf in regards to your warning, as well as other things to do. |
