hack creators are now distributing malware through their downloads

i spent the past 12 hours cleaning a friend's pc just from a fly hack he downloaded

one virus is jeefo which infects all of your executable files including vital system files
so when your antivirus goes to delete the malware you have to reinstall windows

the other virus is a backdoor trojan
i literally watched somebody look through the files on my friend's computer
the person grabbed all of the personal logins he used

this malware can be rid of easily
when i have time today i will post a youtube video that covers what you need to do if you downloaded any hacks in the past month

if you have then immediately turn off your wifi and/or unplug your ethernet cable

if this topic gets locked then pm me for updates

let everybody know about the malware

this is not a matter of being fair to regular players this is a matter of safety

i think he made a bad decision but i still want to warn everybody if they ever get curious about hacking

We're not that dumb enough to bother and try to hack a 2D mouse game.

this is rather serious considering transformice has a big hacking problem still

everyone makes mistakes, they shouldn't be punished for it more than a ban from a mouse game, viruses are really really bad and it's good that some mice want to help those who make these mistakes.

why do you warn people
they should get punished anyways

I don't think there's much compartmentalization here on degrees of justifiable punishment. We don't give common thieves 30 to life.

There's numerous Transformice orientated hacking websites (mostly provided by the Brazilian/Portuguese community) available to the public from all around the world. I say if you get curious about downloading one of these .exes, you're gonna need to know that any .exe you download off the internet could and potentially contain numerous amounts of viruses. It's all a matter of knowing what you're doing, rather than watching a YouTube video of the hack program being demonstrated and used; and therefore assuming it's safe.

Besides, you're gonna get banned for using their programs anyways, so why do it?

This isn't about getting banned, this little mouse casey just wants to help mice like his friend who have made the mistake of downloading these .exes. Yes mice who hack should get banned but it's not about that! This is about the punishment fitting the crime, and I don't see any reason why a mouse who downloads a dumb hacking program for a dumb mouse game should be forced to live with the consequences of a trojan or worse.

edit: I know to a lot of people who take this game very seriously that a virus is a hacker's just deserts, but not all hackers are salty Brs or evil guests-- you prove that yourself by your own admittance to hacking the game for the fun of it!

The only thing that can really be done now is hope Casey's friend is able to rid his computer of the Trojans that came along with the .exe they downloaded. I respect the fact a thread was made to warn everyone about the dangers of downloading hacks, but I thought it was obvious enough that you shouldn't be going around the internet and downloading random .exes in the first place.

The argument that if it's obvious it shouldn't be talked about is about the same as clapping your hands over your ears and pretending that it isn't a problem, even when the first posts presents the soundest argument possible for why it is, in fact, a problem. And Casey does the step beyond to offer help to anyone effected by it, which is more than enough reason to justify the existence of this thread

i did a virus total on one of the original hacks and it would switch from "pup.hacktool" to the backdoor virus so i can see why this would fool anybody who is experienced with computer security
the signature the program gives off somehow leads to various antiviruses to consider this a false positive
i have never seen anything like that after 10+ years in computer security

While the warning is much appreciated, it's a very common thing for creators of "free" programs (including cheats for games like TFM) to add in malware of all kinds to their software.

Obviously you should not under any circumstance download and/or use cheats for Transformice. Besides the risk of getting your computer infected with viruses or other malware, you can expect a lengthy ban if you're caught using cheats in game.
