Depends on the mode. Sniper if I'm a VIP, or defending flag, and Rifle if attacking the flag and the VIP. Doesn't matter for me which I play with, I get a lot of kills with Femur/AN 94 and Sniper :P

Sniper is getting too popular, this however is expected since the top 3 weapons are Spas 12 mp5 and sniper. I was not expecting sniper to become more popular than mp5 despite mp5 being strong with some practice. This could be because of the fire rate bug.
I've also noticed that Es server loves spas 12 more than any other server. Again the polls say so. However i hope that a few are able to use arcane techniques and skills instead of rushing and spamming.

I don't remember ever using sniper, I probably haven't bought it yet. So I'd go for rifles as for right now.

I prefer sniper because in this game i'm really a sharpshooter :D
