Fortoresse Lovers Rally/Party - 20 vs 20 chaos |
0 | ||
Thanks everyone for participating in our event on 10/9/16. Our maximum number of players was 27. Unfortunately, we were missing a host and could not reach our desired maximum of 40 players. Regardless, we had a good time. M.O: We are looking to hold a massive rally/party aimed at stuffing as many players as possible into one room to conduct a unique game consisting of over 20, perhaps 25 players on each team. It has never been done before at an international scale. Fortoresse lacks any kind of light heartedness or new mechanics that deviates away from the currently serious spirit of the game. So we are hosting a community event to make the game fun again. ======================================================== Dernière modification le 1473559380000 |

I can make the word for the right people at BR. I think I can bring around 15~20 people to the event, without drawing enough attention for a hacker to follow them. |

What if hackers do come? I mean, you posted this on forums.. hackers know where it is. |

pawsamuffin a dit : What a Hacker can do in a 20-20 chaos? I mean, really. It's too much chaos for him to set a barrier of conj and keep shooting them. It's most likely that it will die soon. |

It's probably really hard to avoid hackers, but since there will be so many people lots of them with automatic weapons, hiding behind masses of conj/people shouldn't really matter since all the conj will be blown away fast and people will die really quickly. It would be really helpful to have a moderator notice this event. Perhaps if we decide to convert it into a fortnightly tradition, it would attract more people to the game and would benefit moderation since the abundance of people will attract kill farmers and hackers who want to terrorise as many people as they can. If you've ever seen a community created list of hackers, most of them are BR. There are very little or zero EN hackers. If enough people vote to exclude international participants from this rally then we should not send word to other communities. Dernière modification le 1469072580000 |

solfn a dit : I already got a mod. Guess what. It's all so broken that they can't ban. We have the name of some hackers in the BR Staff, but it's no use, since they CAN'T ban those pesky hackers. |

I think the concept of this is pretty cool, but it'll just need to be organized and carried out efficiently. Maybe set up a poll to try to accommodate the time and date for people who are interested in attending. For the possible hackers, I'd assume that if this is successful, they'll be outnumbered anyways and it won't matter as much. Brandonnst a dit : Is it because they lack the power to do so? I heard there's a moderator that can, but I don't think they are from BR ?? |

Bookslover a dit : Unfortunately, on Fortoresse, the moderation system is broken, so mods are unable to ban hackers, even if they tried or wanted to, not including bans from the server itself, such as for using a VPN or proxy. I've seen a mute on Fortoresse, so moderators there can probably still scare away the hackers through that. edit: Same thing. Bookslover a dit : Agreed. Dernière modification le 1469129760000 |

Bookslover a dit : No. The commands are just broken. They can't ban. That came from 3 different BR mods already. |

Anyways, we should start discussing times **the time zone differences are based around my time zone (EST)** **Also sorry if this is confusing and not put well, I tried** ~~~~~~~ US: PST: 3 hours behind MST: 2 hours behind CST: 1 hour behind **EST** BR: Rio Branco ACT: **same time zone as CST Manaus ACT: **same time zone as EST BRT(Belem, Brasilia, Sao Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro): 1 hour ahead EUROPE: --I have no idea where everyone lives so I'll just list popular ones UK: 5 hours ahead France: 6 hours ahead Germany: 6 hours ahead ES--Spain: 6 hours ahead TR: Turkey: 7 hours ahead AUSTRALIA: Perth AWST: 12 hours ahead Eucla ACWST: 12 hours and 45 min ahead Adelaide ACST: 13 hours and 30 min ahead AEST (melbourne, sydney, brisbane): 14 hours ahead ~~~~~~~ To try to accommodate to everyone is a bit tricky, maybe we could have like in between the times of 1pm-10pm EST (aware that time gap is a stretch, but trying to accommodate to everyone) and allow people to come in and leave when they need to, considering that it would allow at least everyone from each server get to play. I would definitely do it on a saturday; however, for some, it might be Sunday morning. -- feel free to correct any mistakes -- it would also help if we knew an estimate of how many people from each server so we can set an appropriate time to their time zone Dernière modification le 1469283300000 |

This might be a helpful resource. As well as this one. Using the information from the post above and the website, the results were this. The date was randomized, but the most reasonable time frame for everyone seemed to be this(?). (Note: Moving the time 12 hours later may work as well, but the AM and PM will switch for everyone. Additionally, here are the details for them. 1. 2. 3. However, I was only able to add the ones that were labeled with their corresponding abbreviations, so this does not include all of them. It would be best to have a list of the time zones for people who are attending to narrow it down. Hopefully, those will post theirs on this thread. Dernière modification le 1469293560000 |

Bookslover a dit : This would have worked if we didn't have people from Europe attending. Since the EN server has people from australia, europe, and the US, we need to accommodate to them. However, if we knew that no one from Europe isn't attending at all, this would work perfectly. Considering we're including TR and ES servers, this doesn't work, but it's a good source (i used timeanddate.com for mine). EDIT: A solution to this (recommended by bookslover) is to create a sign-up list/sheet so we know exactly what time zones to accommodate for. EX: if no one from the TR server is coming, we don't need to accommodate to them. This allows us to create a more precise time for the event. Dernière modification le 1469298960000 |

might be useful to look up the peak times for social media. i used to run a bunch of fb pages and i think the peak time was ~8PM GMT, but i know it varies for different sites. afternoon-evening (GMT) is generally the best time though. tumblr and youtube seem the most similar to fortresse (they're all more aimed at entertainment and they all have a generally young target audience), so maybe look those up? (according to this article, weekend mornings EST is a good time) |

Zetsuen a dit : Those could be taken in consideration, but I'm not sure how much they could really apply for this event as the time zones may be widely spread out. EDIT: After thinking some more, that information is quite right. Weekend mornings EST are indeed very populated and tend to die down by the afternoon. Dernière modification le 1469379360000 |

Bookslover a dit : i was thinking that starting in the late morning EST covers all the time zones pretty well without the need for the event to last a long duration. (according to chrisipiress' post, if it was at midday EST, the earliest it could be for someone would be 9AM and the latest would be at 2AM.) agreed with snordini though, there's no point trying to find a time that accommodates people who don't even show up :P |

Aim at peak fortoresse times, i.e. when the most players can be online. Also, spread word with caution (I'm sure you all already know) there's too little information to share right now. |
