No one has necessarily said shooter I believe? If you look at DeadMeat, it's all melee weapons.

Also, saying a place "makes too many shooter games" makes it sound like they've made more than 1 (not counting future releases).

They've only made one so far. We don't know anything about Dead Maze, so it's impossible to tell if it'll have shooter elements.

Also I just skimmed the video and I really want a Transformice plushie.

An isometric shooter is an interesting idea, but for the kind of game it looks like Dead Maze is going to be, I doubt it'd be the sole combat mechanic the game has.

Isometric melee fighting/survival eh? Hmm. Kinda sounds like something celousco would have been.

Isometric shooter = Die Hard for the NES.

Though having all those particles on screen at once will lag like crazy.

beta codes doesn't = steam. I've been on plenty of closed betas that i got from applications/codes that have been outside steam

I'm glad Atelier is finally going for paid games :) i'd much rather play them than free to play with microtransactions

Tbh I'm not surprised this will not be free. Meli has said before that they were struggling with money and this is just another way to bring this money in.

Paid for games can still have microtransactions.

Well... this is uncomfortable. They're tacking on ANOTHER survival game onto a market that's getting sick of survival games. If they're struggling for money, pooling their resources into a game that literally has over a hundred competing games on the market was a poor idea. You make money by being original, not copying a fad.

I'm not either. I hate eye-symetry and survival games.

yes, paid for games can have microtransactions. But they (usually) do not account for the bulk of the money the company means, so they tend to be more vanity things. I'd much rather pay a tenner and have the option if i wanted of buying extra stuff, than play a supposedly "free" game to reaslise i have to sit through adds, or am limited, or don't have the "full version" or be able to buy unbalanced abilities with microtransactions.

and you're all crying that this is repetative, yet we know nothing of the gameplay other than survival. People could label dark souls as "another gothic hack-and-slash" yet anyone who's played it will tell you that it's a very unique game. you CAN find innovation in flooded genres. It's very close minded to be judging a game before you've even seen a minimum viable product of it

Adding on to this, none of their games have really been as successful as Transformice so I'm guessing this is an experiment but it may cost them a lot with this "experiment".

Well if it's gonna cost money then I'm out. I don't feel comfortable sinking money into a game, let alone a company that can barely keep their games (Let alone themselves) afloat. To be honest there's no telling how they'll be about the whole approach and it very well could be something like Nekodancer again, except this time players will have lost money.

I'm kind of hoping they change their mind, but I doubt that'll happen.

Atelier 801's track record is not one for "innovation." Bouboumand Nekodancer are clones of other games, so it's fair to doubt the company will be able to pull off something unique from within an even more flooded genre. So no, I'm not being closed-minded, I'm basing my opinion off what I know of every other indie developer's attempt to jump on the survival bandwagon and what Atelier has displayed themselves capable of so far.
