i’m really hoping the repeal doesn’t pass. this will affect me tremendously due to my most of my friends online and irl contacting me thru discord, and most of my homework being available only via the internet.

Kind of an ignorant question, but if net neutrality is repealed will online schools be screwed? I mean they shouldn't since they're schools, but....

These are the sites that you can no longer access if net neutrality is repealed:

  • youtube
  • facebook
  • google
  • instagram
  • literally every single school website
  • netflix
  • hulu
  • streaming sites like spotify
  • any many, many more

voting is tomorrow. please text "resist" to 50409

This could affect anyone in education pretty badly, even if you're not home or online-schooled, because you'll still need the internet for resources and examples

So basically in short, if the repeal doesn't pass then everyone (or really most, but it's still a big number) in education is screwed.

The supreme court still hasn't decided yet. There is a hope left and to top it all the NN repeal was denied twice. Calm your hearts and don't think they will actually get removed.

There is a bill called the "Save Net Neutrality Act of 2017" that was introduced recently.
Source
https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4585

If it becomes a law, we keep our net neutrality.

We need it. I have beta readers for my books, all my hw, and a LARGE number of friends over the internet. They can't just rip that away!

Too many lies going around about this at the moment.
This ''Net Neutrality'' wasn't even put into law till about two years ago, did the internet really crumble before us two years ago? No. Nothing was different. And nothing will change, except maybe sometime in the future you will pay 4.99$ dollars more for your internet so you can access Facebook and Snapchat faster. No company is going to start shutting you down from accessing certain websites or anything. All this will allow is for companies like your internet service provider, charging websites like Facebook and Twitter more money for using up a lot of requests and speed on their service than other websites who have less traffic. If they fail to pay for the fees that the ISP sets for them for being big companies and websites, then maybe the ISP will slow down the speed they give them. And why wouldn't they pay those fees? they're not stupid, they'll pay them. Why would they censor things anyway? They don't need to, they just want the monies from companies like Google. They don't give a shit about your 30 minute twitter arguments or what porn you watch. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't really care about Net Neutrality, and neither should you that much. Yeah, it's fine to have opinions about this and be against it - but if you're worrying that much about not being able to see your friends and that you might kill yourself over it.. just stop, man. It's nothing like that. Websites will still work, everything will be exactly the same. Calm down.
Please read this twitter chain for more info and then research it yourself. It has a few errors in it, but it gets the point perfectly.

lol even if we still lose it's not like they'd last
i can't recall all that well about this certain information, but they've tried doing this before and it definitely didn't work out for them! i doubt it'd last for long and i can see it becoming a huge failure, really. i wish i could add more information but i have a huge headache and i'm not really in the mood!
anyways if i have to pay for youtube or netflix, then looks like i can't do anything on my tv because those are the only things i use my tv for!
+ i go on youtube a lot
+ i still need to finish sausage party with my friend
+ ur all frogs

edit; update guys but i found this piece of information, idk if its accurate but maybe you can research about it

CALM DOWN ABOUT NET NEUTRALITY.
Don’t worry. They still have to go to court.

But guess what? There’s something you didn’t know about the vote.

Get this: the vote was basically illegal.
You heard me right. Eric Schneiderman, American lawyer, said in Twitter: “I will sue to stop the FCC’s illegal rollback of #netneutrality. New Yorkers and all Americans deserve a free and open internet.”

Not only do we have another ally, but now we know that the vote wasn’t supposed to happen.

We’ve got this. Now the REAL FIGHT starts now.
He isn’t just any lawyer, he’s the Attorney General of New York State, and he says this is going to be a multi-state lawsuit against the FCC.

tl;dr: the internet was fine before 2015 ^
-
do you not realize that after the law is repealed, there could be MORE stuff added to the internet to make it worse than it was before 2015?
net neutrality is what lets the government take control of isps and internet companies so they dont throttle and make your internet shittier than it already is. without government regulation, companies like comcast, verizon, at&t, spectrum, and other lesser ones could just. simply throttle your internet, slow your connection to a bare minimum, and do more than they did back in 2015
comcast already got in trouble for something like that back then. that's why the law was passed
people have already discussed net neutrality back in even the 90's. and it was only added two years ago. we needed it, and we still need it now
