to gain more profit out of these games by putting ads on their sites..?

They got a problem with Adsense and now they don't want to be dependant on this latter, that's all.

You know the "More games" button? They could move that higher in the menu to bring more attention to it.

I've mentioned this somewhere else, but I think allowing you to change between games (without leaving the game) could really help with getting more attention. They already load each game from a specific game loader, so if they unloaded the game (while moving you to a relatively bare screen that just shows loading progress), they could then load in the new game! Then they could make "more games" act more like a central game outpost, like the "rooms" button does. It would especially be cool if they finish "Module 801", since those games are fairly small and this would allow you to change between them as easily as with a Transformice module (albeit with some loading / unloading).

what would this achieve? players leaving the main profit game for ones that the players have already deemed as laggy/full of hacks/no moderation/no updates/no events? IT's already a widely accepted opinion that TFM is the "best" A801 game in terms of attention and moderation, if people expecting this level of developer interaction went over to these dead games they would be dissapointed. This would just give A801 a worse image. If someone is playing TFM and has no idea the other games are about at this stage it's probably best to leave it like that. It's not a lack of playerbase on these other games that's the discussion here, it's the lack of dev love/time/development. Adding more players won't help that. And it will more likely be seen as losing players from their main game.

What's the point of having them then?

Why does Atelier801 produce games when the obviously just leave them too rot?

because their building a portfolio? Because their testing their skills as game developers? That's what they do, they develop games... Not every game can go on forever, most browser based flash games are just a "i wonder if this is viable" type game. I have friends who are studying game design at a high level and this kind of thing is openly encouraged in the industry. 5 "dead" games to an employer is a lot better resume than one single idea about a great game, it shows you are willing to work outside your comfort zone. Why should they keep all these games "alive"? They have done what they set out to do, they don't need to keep wasting resources by adding more assets to these games when they've already achieved what they wanted. Clearly TFM is the one project they stive to keep afloat to fund their other ventures, but the other games are just that, ventures, tries.

I art, i can draw. I have THOUSANDS of unfinished pictures, mostly sketches that never got inked. i've had, over the years, people bang on and on and on at me about "howcome you never finished this?" or "what happened to that it was great i loved it why did you give up on it?" I can tell you now, i "gave up" or "abandoned" none of those. Maybe i wanted to know if i could draw a squirrel with a jetpack, so i'll sketch one out quickly and go "oh yeah, i can, cool" and leave it there. I have my satisfaction, i've learned about myself, my mediums, and my skills, but it's other people who seem to think this is not enough and i need to polish it to the same degree i do with other pieces. I got what i wanted from them, it's what OTHER PEOPLE wanted that was different. THEY felt MY work should be done differently, THEY felt more needed to be done to MY creations. I see this exactly the same. Games are art, some are left forever in sketch form, and you have no right to tell the artists how they should art. IT's just disrespectful.

the open source suggestion, i like. But i don't see it happening. IT's very hard to watch other people have full controll over something you made, and it's crushing to see it taken in a direction you dislike, so i can see why they'd want to keep it to themselves even if it's just a relic to them and they don't use it now.

Good one. But isn't the Bathtub off topic? The bathtub in other games would be fun...

In small words:
Transformice is the perfect game, and the other games are failures.

I pretty much just read a FEW of the posts as I scrolled through the topic, so sorry if someone has already said this or if it's going against what you just said.

Transformice is basically the main game, it was the first one to be created out of all the other atelier games.

Transformice is a hard game to find randomly, unless you're actually TRYING to look for it, let alone other 801 games.

i'm starting to confuse myself now
