I, as someone who often shares images in group chats & messages, have become very annoyed with the automatic 'spoiler' images get put into in DMs. I understand the intention, but it has become absolute for me. The only people I message are friends, and I ignore or delete any other messages. At the very least, you could let me disable to option. It often messes with centering & is a hassle to use.

yes, and if you try to center or align an image that has been hidden, once you unhide it, it becomes unaligned.

so, support.

(it only appears in inbox messages btw - not regular forum posts.)

^ as you can see, this really messes up your formatting and just sucks to work with.

They added it because malicious people were sending IP grabbers hidden as images to TFM staff and regular players, in an attempt to get their IP and do further damage. I can understand why it's annoying to have these spoilers, but in the end it's better to be safe than sorry.

To further add to the discussion, images uploded via Micepix don't get filtered, so they appear normal in PMs. Having this in mind I don't support the option to disable this security feature.

Lament a dit :
To further add to the discussion, images uploded via Micepix don't get filtered, so they appear normal in PMs. Having this in mind I don't support the option to disable this security feature.

Even if we can upload to micepix, micepix still have a limited file and image size. And some people don't want to scale and ruin the quality of an image just to avoid to get a spoiler. There's people like me who like to store stuff in PMs for different reasons.
--
I'd also like to add that the "protecting your privacy from images" feature is absolutely useless. Anyone can simply click on the button to reveal the image either way. The only thing it does prevent a bit is from viewing illegal content directly. But it doesn't mean there's kids who will listen to it.

EDIT: I saw the post from Anythin about why this had to be added. I sort of understand now.

But I'd like to add something to the suggestion in general. Instead of having just a single box to disable the spoilers, maybe implement a small system to make exceptions on image hosting websites? E.g have a list named "the following sites that shouldn't be filtered"?

Maybe support other popular sites like imgur or photobucket, as you can't put an IP grabber on their site either.
