Transformice has currently way passed it's 7th year anniversary, but the game has lost it's focus from when it all started back in 2010. The rules were plain and simple, get the cheese and go back to the hole. No ego trippers, no serious faces, nothing. Just fun with your friends and family.

I know alot of people who want Transformice to be like how it used to be. So, I've been thinking about actually reaching out to Tigrounette about this. That's why I'm making this thread, and I first need to know if the people in my tribe actually appreciate the idea and want it to happen. Feel free to share your opinion about this. Following is a list of the positive aspects of Transformice (before skills and monetization).

First off, what's more nostalgic than the old graphics the game used to have, instead of all the new design. Don't get me wrong, I love design in a game, but I rather see the interface in the default colour than this current interface. It's been very confusing to see the help and menu box be replaced with icons. Also the friends- and tribelist being on the bottom left corner is very confusing.

Then, ofcourse, you have the bots that had been around in the game for years. Bots like Holzinator, Baffbot and Cfmbot. You name it. Note: I have no knowledge about whether it's possible to bring the bots back, but I've heard that Tigrounette purposely declined an offer to change the bot system for the game. If you remember tribewar, you will know that the tribewar module was always a fun way to show off the tribe and it's members.

How about the current events? Remember when the events were made as purpose to actually unlock new items for your mouse? Nowadays you can buy everything and spend money (fraises) on it. To me, that's very disappointing. This current Christmas event (2017) is a big disappointment for me too. I remember actually exchanging gifts to others by clicking on them on the screen and choose for exchange gifts. In return, you got free/ new items for your shop and your mouse to wear. I believe that the whole purpose of events has faded away after 2013. Then you have the duration of one event, it's far too long than it should and after a while it gets boring and annoying for a ton of players, including myself.

Also, the inventory tab has caused a lot of problems for the game. Stacking and throwing throwable items during a map always caused for maps to glitch and bug, which is very annoying. It also ruins the fairness of the game, because people can help themselves out instead of needing a shaman to build an object to get over something. Coming back to the last point, events are also created around the inventory, for example recieving relics for rewards.

Nowadays, Transformice is a festival of laggs/bugs/crashes and very confusing for the players. Transformice with it's old mechanics and glitches have always been functioning normal without any problems (or some, I don't quite remember anything bad that has happened to the game).

Then the most important item to talk about, is the community itself. As I mentioned in the beginning of this thread, the community has drastically changed from what it used to be. Back in the day, trolling was very common and normal to happen, and people actually enjoyed it in the chat. Now, anyone who gets trolled may throw a massive tantrum and people don't take trolling as serious anymore. Another thing is the people who take this game way to seriously. They forgot that the point of the game was to get the cheese and go back to the hole. No, instead they purposely die or bother you with (trade requests) or spam you in whispers. This makes the game even worse.
From personal view, I've noticed how any room barely even have conversations in the chat. People became so silent in the rooms, something that didn't happen back in the day.

I'm very strongly convinced that all these points have caused a ton of people to quit the game, because they can't seem to have fun on it anymore. I know that the game has been around for 7 years too, so it becomes boring. I know all my friends in real life and family quit already after the first year of release, but I always found a reason to get on it. If you think that I forgot to mention something, share it in the comments.

I also believe that the only thing to give this thread a hearing is to make a petition for Tig, because petitions always get heard. I'm sure not everyone thinks the same about this as I do, but I do know that there are alot of people that want Transformice to be like back in the day. It doesn't have to be an update that brings the game back to the good old years, but maybe special rooms, events etc.

Thank you all for your attention~

Love,
Cxsrx

p.s. This thread is created to understand the players' wants and needs, not specifically to prove my right.

Support as well. Knowing what TFM had became into and the TFM we all played before is kinda ironic. Though it used to be enjoyable but right now with all the repeating events and nothing new.. It's like we are just stepping in ruins you know. Why do you need to recycle the same things over and over when you could just create a new and fresh event that everyone would enjoy? There are 2 sides at the moment and one of them is basically losing and the other winning. People who had played this game for so long are in a need of new events and people who recently started to play the game just got the same events as we all played but for what purpose? Is it because they have to experience them too? Well it's easily said and done. Why do plenty of games have more people than TFM? Obviously their developers are interested in what people want to see in the game and are going to implement it asap. When the devs ran out of ideas an year ago there was a thread of where they would decide which weekly events would be played but so many people gave out their ideas and why wouldn't they be added in the game? It's obvious we can't return the glory days of TFM but at least create something that would make the game popular more than enough and enjoyable as well. Though about interface.. Wouldn't it be better if like it had 2 options? Switching to old or new one. There should be a way to provoke things that cause troubles to the game and the players. Oh and one more thing. I remember there was a valentine event back in 2014 but it was only one single time. I mean i didn't got anything iirc but i'm wondering why do they repeat same events even if seasonable ones but not an event like valentine for example? And we have the very first few months of the year replaced with weekly events(an year ago they were at least 1 week but at the middle of them i believe they said something from the lines of adding more time to the weekly events which they were 2 weeks) yet now they're 3 weeks and they were saying that people weren't able to complete the events in time so they had to increase a little bit more. What's next? Same ones but adding another week which it turns out to be a whole month? If there's nothing to do about it then this game would die at around 2 years. The player activity used to be more than 30k but with the time it reduced to 17-20k and the last time i saw the 'Players online:' had like 17,5k people online. And after the removal of it made me think that they just don't want to show the current activity of the game.

This is too long for me to read and this migraine is going to be the death of me plus i'm not thinking right. Just by reading the long title, I can agree with you, janet. Sadly, I wasn't around 1978 so I wasn't here for the uh opening or when it first came out. All I have heard were myths and legends of this wonderful era. Tell me more in DM if you like...

Anyways, things change. That's how life goes. While the fuel for reboots and i assume this sexy topic is nostalgia, not everything has to be like the olden days. Yes, while skimming thru the pool of words in this topic, you have some points. The game activity is slowly dying but reverting to the caveman age isn't the answer. They should try to reach out to an audience to make a game big. I've always said for about 2-3 weeks now, "A game require 2 elements to grow: 1. Attract users (maybe advertising) 2. Then maintain those users (myb with features)". So, my point is things change and that's fun by things change for a reason, and instead of going backwards we should go forward.

Anyways, I might not make sense and I'm not sure if I am (this headache, ugh) making sense but this is what I just typed. Farewell and I want a donut! ;-;

ahh I always loved to see meli's streams and drawings. I remember going back from school and rushing through my homework just to see the stream. good times, good times. they should bring the wallpapers back. also, has somebody noticed that tfm is not doing well ever since dead maze's production began? I don't know, maybe they're just working on that game a little bit more. that's just my theory though :0:

The only reason people leave this game, or don't leave, is because of the community. Nothing more, nothing less. Everything else is just a tool to communicate and interact with like-minded individuals. So you can put up a big wall of text about all the things that have changed; in the end the tools don't change the game, it's the community that changes it.

This.
I could try to play like in the first days, as I do remember playing this game a bit back in 2012 with my niece (during Summer) and then returning in Christmas 2013, when the event was great aswell, but things do change, you know? I know there are many users who wants to go back to the old days of TFM and, currently, we already have the removed skills in Vanilla (which still frustrates me lol) for a bit of nostalgia during this years' Christmas event, so I'm not sure about this, it can be good for many of you (and also me, who knows XD), but not for others :/

I'd like to also mention the people who have grown accustom to the new way. Sure, people from 2010, 2011, etc. play this still. I get it. But the fact is, many more people have joined since then. If I see a 2010 player, that is pretty rare. Though, the fact is, you'd be changing it on everyone who plays this game. Like, immediately. To everything they learned, they'll have to grow accustom again to something else.
There is a mode called "minimalist mode" which is an option. I think it's similar to what you described. Though, it's mainly used for less lag. I don't know. I wasn't there way back then. I was here in 2013 or 2014, on another account but failed to recover it. Yes, I tried "I forgot my password" and such. Didn't happen. I'd need my old computer back-which is long gone. But I wasn't there way back then.
And I don't know about others, but Transformice for me isn't a festival of bugs and crashes.
Another point I'd like to dispute is the community. People barely talk?? I go to Vanilla rooms and I get flooded. You're probably in a racing room if that's to happen. Occasionally in normal rooms from what I've seen. But look, there's also the cafe.
The menu box with icons is really actually helpful for visual people like me. And if you scroll over it, it'll tell you what it does. And if you click on it, the rest is said and done. I get the tribe and friends list is confusing. Yeah, when I returned, I was like "woah what the fuck" but I adjusted quickly. After all, scroll over it, it tells you what it is!
I get the problem with fraises, which on that, I will support. It's really annoying. The other day there was a level ten player who didn't know how to play at all, but their mouse looked really nice and I was just irritated. I feel you should work for it.
Inventory items, can actually help others. Sure it's annoying, but it can help out if the shaman is bad and it stays for a few seconds or so depending on the throwable, and can also get other players helping. Just, occasionally it kills. But it's for fun. And many people enjoy it.

This is just a few disputes I have and my own personal opinion. Please do not get butthurt, thanks.

try as hard as you want, but we all know very well that this never works out or happens, especially for such a big of a change of a request. sure the skill removal could be related, but it seemed to do more bad rather than good due to backlash which only adds up that sometimes mass user request turning into reality looks worse than expected.

Honestly I agree with this.

I remember joining back in 2014 and I would get home after school and play some TFM and have fun and get new titles and I'd be so amazed by the event and just enjoy my time and explore.

These days I truly believe that all the indie-ness and specialness and joy that made TFM what it was has been sucked out for various reasons that have been stated, Such as uncertain future development and community.

These days I only play TFM for the events and the cafe, That's about it.
There's something about TFM these days that just feels sort of, not really sure how to describe it, Commercial is the word?

It almost reminds me of old club penguin and new club penguin, Old club penguin had a very rugged, fun, endearing feel to it but the new club penguin is just very sterile and commercial and unpleasant.

While I would love to TFM to return to it's old-self, I doubt it'll ever happen, Although I appreciate the effort and hard work you put into this topic and how much you seem to care.

The idea of getting clothing only from events seems like an interesting thing to have because it is mostly hacker-proof for those who hack to get cheese, having that in a "back in time" event seems fun, and those who "look" like a beginner won't be judged in the event. Although I wasn't there when transformice was like that, I would like to have some of the old transformice features back.
