| I do understand that, however the point is, EVERYTHING is worthy of ridicule. And you can't try to stop that ridicule just because you don't like it, otherwise, everyone and everything becomes susceptible to censorship. It's a dangerous path that if one person takes and they even make censorship look like "oh it's just being nice" then suddenly you've literally have an entire group of opinions that people will do anything to remove from society, we already see it today. Those Tumblr people can have their opinions, it's fine, but they can't try to force other people to not be able to speak for having a different opinion, they can't label their opinion as evil. No one can. |

| are you talking about censorship such as putting suicide mentions & whatnot in spoilers? because you should know if a topic is disturbing to 99% of the public its common courtesy to not talk about it so openly and tumblr has nothing to do with it. if not, what censorship are you talking about? kuokou a dit : No I'm not talking about trigger warnings, though those are stupid too. People with a Tumblr mindset try to censor people on different social medias, many of them call it "deplatforming" but honestly it's just censoring someone, take the Milo guy on twitter for example, or Thunderf00t where a bunch of SJW Tumblroonies tried mass messaging his employer to try to get him fired. |

Zetsuen a dit : I don't argue privately, if you have something to say you'll say it in public where you can be critisized, or you won't say it at all. And no I'm not reading into your comment too much, infact I'm barely scratching the surface. |

Mousechris a dit : too late lol, i've already sent it. i'm sure plenty of people in this thread are sick of these sorts of conversations, so PM is the only place i'm going to continue it. |

Zetsuen a dit : I'm pretty sure the point of this thread is to point out examples of Tumblrism and show just why they're so bad. Like what you're doing right now, you're taking the debate into private PM's where no one can critisize you, you're basically trying to make a safe place. And we all know how fun safe places are on Tumblr. So again, if you have something to say, you say it publicly, because this isn't a debate between us, it's a debate for the whole thread. |

| i'm not sure what kind of experience you've had with private messaging, but the reason why i PM'd you wasn't so i could avoid criticism, it was because enough people have expressed that they didn't want heated discussions in this thread that i thought a PM would be a better place. if you feel like any part of my PM should be seen by the rest of the thread, then you're welcome to post it here. | I'm not going to post your arguments for you, post them yourself, otherwise they have no backbone. They have no confidence behind them. It honestly doesn't matter why you PM someone, if it's a public debate it stays a public debate and any attemp to turn it into a private one ultimately is just avoiding critisism. If you really think that ohhhh this debate is just too much for people to handle, then you end it, as the saying goes, you don't get your cake and get to eat it too. |

| I think you need to find a way to get the thread on topic where everyone can be able to contribute or comment without the fear of starting a "discussion" that isn't wanted or needed. |

| Ok 1 that's the whole point, everyone discusses the subject, it doesn't go in private pm's, and that "fear of discussion" is just fear of critisism. If you contribute to the discussion you are just as prone to critisism as I am. In other words, the thread is already like how it should be, discuss what you think, see what other people feel, and don't coware away if someone dares to disagree. |

| I was refering to the idea of posting new content for everyone to talk about. A new example to look at, a new post. I don't use Tumblr whatsoever and I don't run into these controversal posts- so I'm purely here to see some examples and hear what everyone has to say instead of two or three people debating something that won't really go anywhere. |

| I have 2 main isuues with Trigger Warnings, also, trigger warning, scientific facts and research is included in this post. First, trigger warnings are extremely counter productive. The point of a trigger warning is to prevent people from post trauma, or "being triggered" as some might call it now, but the problem is preventing people from seeing these "triggers" only makes them worse, I remember someone once said. "If I tell a bunch of people 'we're going on a field trip to the meuseum' and say 'but don't worry there will be ambulences if we need them' that won't create a sense of security, that will just make it seem like there's danger" The best way to get over PTSD is just safe and normalised exposer. Not to hide. The second issue I have is trigger warnings try to force other people to go the extra mile for the offended few. We even see it on these forums, if you don't spoil something someone gets triggered by some sentinels will yell at you, not naming names btw. You can't just expect other people to bend to your whim just because you feel uncomfortable with talking about a subject. |

Mousechris a dit : i mean you do realize that most common triggers are already deemed morally unacceptable to talk about in public settings, right? i'm talking about suicide, rape, the genuinely frightening and disgusting things that aren't fine to talk about to the general community. it's not about safe places, it's about being a decent respectable person and not subjecting people to graphic and violent descriptions of things that make others uncomfortable. because it's not funny and nobody should be expected to tolerate that if someone comes to you and demands that you stop talking about polynomials because they make them uncomfortable, i don't really give a fuck. everyday abnormal triggers can be coped with and avoided and i've never actually seen someone go out of their way to try to conform others to not talking about these things? so either i'm completely out of the loop or these things really do rarely happen Dernière modification le 1472262480000 |
