racing builds basic technique for you and its fast fast fast fast so everything else but bootcam will most likely be a breeze for you.

Depends on what you want to be good at.
If it's just straight vanilla than that's fine, I highly recommend cheesefarming.

I'm more into survivor myself.

Most people have probably already said this, but Learn to wall jump. It took me forever, but it's pretty much the best thing you can do if you want to become a pro, no matter what gamemode. Also, pick one gamemode you enjoy and play it alot, until you get good at it. If you constantly play different ones, it will be very hard to become a pro at all of them. Vanilla is easiest for most people, but some prefer racing, survivor, or other ones.

A good way to become pro is make a private vanilla (or any mode) room and practice and try techniques you could use to get the cheese first and to get saves as a Shaman (if mode has Shamans). That way you know what to do when you're Shaman (again, if the mode has Shamans) and you know how to get the cheese first quicker as a mouse.

Also try BC, it's hard but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier to play TFM in general. Skills needed for bootcamp are wall jumping, corner jumping, turn arounds and etc.

i suggest that you learn the most basic skills first. first learn wall jumping, then corner jumping, then so on.

in terms of being a shaman, practice with friends and observe what to do and what not to do.

and for getting more cheese, then racing is the best way to go. racing requires skills like wall jumping and corner jumping so if you don't know how to do those then this is a good way to practice, as well as racing being only 1 minute long and does not have a shaman so you don't have to wait for other mice or the shaman to finish building to get cc.

Utility room is the best for practicing various skills. You will automatically have admin power if your name is in the room name (example: /room *#utility0Emeryaurora for me). Type !help when you get in there. Some of my favorite utility commands include:
  • !map p4 - loads a random solo shaman building map
  • !map 813845 - loads the map associated with the code
  • !clear - clears the build
  • !time 150 - sets the timer to 150 seconds (2 minutes 30 seconds)
  • !pw tomato - sets the room's password to tomato

Note the map code whenever you fail a map. Then you can practice it in utility.

Another way to become pro is by watching pro players and emulating them. You may get lucky and befriend a pro who is willing to teach you. The definition of "pro" varies from group to group. For example, some players value survivor skills, while others may value divinity skills (divine building without arrow nails or skills). There is a lot of obscure knowledge about the game that is difficult to learn on your own. For example, did you know that the Anti-gravity skill in the spiritual tree actually makes mice bounce higher on balls (like a trampoline) or that it is possible to reverse the anti-gravity on vanilla map 81 with a well-timed gravitational anomaly?

If you want cheese quickly, find a private cheesefarming vanilla group (ideally 4-6 players). The reason you want more players in the group is because you are unable to earn cheese when you are the shaman. At the same time, you want fewer than 6 players because the fastest cheesefarming involves rev abuse. You will want to skip the maps that take too long. The "pro"er you all are at fastfarming, the faster you will earn cheese. Divine shamans tend to be more efficient at cheesefarming but hard mode shams can be pretty good too if they are "pro." The members in the cf (cheesefarm) group should all have skills that suit cheesefarming (especially rev).

Play mini-games. The hardest maps in the game are not in the normal room rotation, and they are certainly not in vanilla either. #divinity (for divine building), *#spiritual (the higher-level maps require a lot of technique, much harder than divine building), bootcamp rooms, etc.

vanilla is pretty good for cheese most the time, and if you're good with sham you can trade those for more cheese coins in the village.
I don't know how to help you with the pro part, just practice a lot I guess. If you need help with anything specific with shamming you can whisper me in game or message on here and I'll try to help.

learn about the physics engine. Understand it. that's the best way. you'll never get far copying others if you don't understand the "why" of it all.
