Yeah it doesn't. If you're forced to use a mouse you can make great images with the Line Layer by physically placing the nodes of the line. Just when you click a new layer make sure you click on the one with a funny pen icon on it-- I'm sure you'll figure the rest out, try using Ctrl and Shift and things when editing the lines on the Line Layer.

The best part of the Line Layer is that you can micromanage the pen pressure of the line to the pixel!

Does anyone know any good tips for doing Line Art?

My hands are very small and shaky so I tend to not draw straight, especially for lineart it's hard. Even if I'm just sketching my lines don't turn out perfect.

Me too,

do you use a tablet to draw?

There's actually a setting for this problem on most drawing programs, it's called Stabilizer on Paint Tool Sai (you can find it on the Quick Bar if you have it turned on in the View section). My stabilizer is set to 15 but you might want to try higher settings.

edit: it basically delays the time between when you make a line on your tablet and when the line is actually drawn on the computer. Less nodes to work with generates a smoother line. If you set it super high it can be very hard to draw, however.

I don't use SAI :/, I would only be able to get the trial version tho. Is SAI the only way??

Plus my tablet is a very very VERY cheap one and it's super small, so it's hard to draw anyways. I will just have to fix my shaky hand. <_>

I'm sure there's a stabilizer for most drawing programs if you google which program you have and where to find it, but if you'd like to use sai I'd recommend you do so though the official developer's site.

> My own tablet is the size of less than half a piece of paper, so ??? I don't know why the size matters but I guess it might

I would suggest MedibangPaint Pro, it's free and works like a charm for me <:

@ O_v
I made a silhouette of your original drawing (red) and then redrew the legs so that the line of action would naturally follow. The only problem with this drawing is the weight of your subject, which is a simple fix in the sketching stage.(in the silhouettes I removed the tail)

use strong and fast strokes, even if you feel unconfident!

if you're drawing on paper, make sure you're not pressing down too lightly - your lines should look bold an clear.
if you're drawing using a tablet, you can use stabilizer (as mentioned above).

I'm not entitled to critique as my art has major issues, but the legs really jumped out at me. Mice have small legs, and can't stretch them that far behind them. Please, use your style, but I tried to fix it a little?
Anyway, here's a redline.
Anyone else can correct me if need be, too.

Before I go any further, I need some critique on this...especially the anatomy.

What my plans are before you critique:
1. Mouse will be holding a fireball, so parts of the hands won't actually show.
2. Yes, the eyes are supposed to be derpy.
3. There are a couple things I still need to add to the hat.

another way to tackle it if you still want the appearance of his feet out behind him would be to give the legs structure instead of making them out of circles
http://img.atelier801.com/11a4f02b.png
ok it still looks a bit funky but try defining the legs so they look more like functional legs. i'd also give a bit more shape to the feet
the tail seems a bit too high up on his butt
and if you want your ears to have that circular opening, i would suggest that you move it a bit to the left so it looks less 2 dimensional

Fixing the leg is fine and all, it IS the only real problem with the drawing, but if you're looking for something you can do to your art that's more in depth, you can try applying a line of action:
For example:

http://i.imgur.com/lMzXdyG.png

A little detail like that is all you need to turn a little drawing into something spectacular!

Also @Shardpixel, a tail connects to the base of the spine, so it should be above the butt at all times /v/

wow thank you for all the suggestions!I never thought I would get so many reviews.
also, @a0xis, I would try using it, but I don't know how.I've heard about it a few times on youtube, but I never understood how I could use it.
I don't know if I'm asking for too much, but if you could give me some tips that would be really appreciated!
