Not considering an offensive word an insult is a great loophole of sorts to have handy. What if I thought that "cunt" was more of a joke than an insult and used it among friends in public chat? I'd get muted. |

I'm pretty sure using a word that's more often than not an insult towards women is not comparable to a word that never warrants a mute at all, but alright. |

I got muted for using a homophobic slur although I was just joking around with my friend, and got muted. Dernière modification le 1436550960000 |

^ @ Haru Mods are allowed to play the game as well. Just because a mod wants to have a little fun and mess around does not make their behavior "intolerable". |

You're missing the point, simply because I used an extreme example. Behaviour like that from a moderator should not be tolerated. |

I've been muted for calling one of my friends "feg" (sorry for the word) because we're from the same city, but i gor muted, even though we just have to deal with it, it's a rule. |

Here, I'll end the conversation with something you're all going to love: If you feel that the behavior of a moderator is improper and should be addressed, please feel free to contact the admins here. Dernière modification le 1436473140000 |

Until the day that mods get access to the friends list of any given player, I don't see how you can expect us to differentiate between insults between friends and insults between strangers. |

Yes, lets shut down every product conversation about any negative comment on the behaviour of staff etc. This always happens. Someone complains and nothing is done. I'll use the contact form to link to this forum, thanks(!). |

How is complaining about a moderator saying a word that isn't mutable even on a BR server "productive?" It just feels like a vendetta, personally. |

Sarkazm a dit : You're not having a conversation and bringing up a point. You're targeting a specific mod for a specific action that they did which, in your opinion, is not to be tolerated. The problem is, you are not in charge of the mods - the community manager is. Complaining about it on the forums is just as good as complaining about a specific hacker in the game. The proper procedure to complain about a hacker is to use the /report function. The proper procedure to complain about a specific mod is to use the contact form. |

Veralidaine a dit : I was saying this, I only sounded misleading ^^ Speaking of which, one of my friend got muted for one hour for insults, he had that bug that does not make you send private messages, he switched on his alt but immediatly got banned without even say a word (i've the full screnshot of the whole chat in the previous 20ish minutes. This is annoying and it's not the first time that one of my tribeatmes (including me) receive this sort of ban. Dernière modification le 1436474280000 |

It is not an opinion that public staff members are not supposed to engage in this sort of unprofessional behavior. Or maybe, by admission, you feel that it is. |

I think the discussion here is derailing from the original question that was asked. If you have any issues with the way a moderator behaves, feel free to contact the Administrators by using the Contact Form. For ban appeals, you can find information how to appeal them in the OP. |

Pretty sure telling the community manager means she'll just bounce it to the EN staff team to let them sort it out. But I have contacted her. Dernière modification le 1436475240000 |

Sinnwidrig a dit : You're right - they shouldn't engage in unprofessional behavior, but in my opinion to call this unprofessional behavior is a very far stretch. I restate the fact, though, that my opinion doesn't matter, but nor does any other player's - only the admins are there to make that judgement. Just happy to see that you took the proper steps to voice your complaint. Dernière modification le 1436476200000 |

Seems there's a lot to reply to. I like writing so I'll give my two cents on the two examples being brought up here. This has been mentioned already, but if you want to be productive about your complaints (which I definitely encourage, being non productive seems like a waste of time), use the contact form. First, Flip's screenshot. Public staff members are players that are expected to behave at all times. As players they are allowed to troll and while "lixos" can be perceived to be somewhat rude, I do not know of a single case in which this word was the direct cause for a mute. However, if anyone feels terribly wronged, try sorting it out with the mod first. If that's no help, there's always the contact form. The way I see it the pictured behavior may at most have been uncalled for. To answer the initial question, it seems perfectly tolerable to me. Jecamemouse a dit : Typically mods follow reports. These reports automatically put the reported player on /watch. It's possible both you and the hackers were reported (or maybe just you, there's no way to tell afterwards) but your report was the one checked on. Another possibility here is that these hackers weren't hacking, or weren't hacking by the time the mod entered. I'm just saying that there are a lot of ways in which these sort of things can be missed. At worst, the situation you described was a job half done. If your jokes contain homophobic slurs, you're best off joking in private channels. Even if the mod recognized that you were joking, we cannot assume that an entire room of players know this. Meanwhile, it's still a homophobic slur which we'd very much prefer to keep out of the chat. Which is why it in practice makes no difference in how the matter is treated from a moderation point of view. |

Lemodile a dit : Just to add some other possibilities:

It's so charming how this changed so fast from the "this player is harassing users since 2 months now" to "omg a mod said lixooo brbrbrhuehuehue", or it might be just my imagination because ... oh god... it's 1am. But honestly, that's how it looks to me, and it sort of scared me this fast change of a heart. I mean, which is more important? Besides I agree with all above said, I got a pretty bad/good suggestion. I have no idea how things are done in the IT community, but I suggest getting more implicated into taking care of it. I think complaining ain't working too much (well, it plays it's part too) so I guess some serious action is better. Sorry if you're already doing this. I understand pretty well the situation of not having a mod that is able to speak your language and I also I understand that some mods might feel anxious about stepping in a language they have no idea about. It might be useful to get a list with bad words and their slang so that it would be easier to detect bad behavior. I also think it might be a neat idea, that when you report someone for harassing, to translate real time what they say for the mod. It's pretty hard because the mod has to be with you and the reported mice in the same time in the room. Also trust problems and other things might come in etc. But hey, it's an idea. Make a move further to make a change... *flies in the sweet world of dreams* gomensai for intruding |

I'm already doing it, i helped with the correction of some information threads made in a really poor italian, i helped Liam with some translation (some of them should've been done by the staff because it's something secret or not) I've talked with rype for months about many things. I created myself info threads, and i'm trying to teach to all the players how to use properly the report system and many thing about the game, i'm pratically trying to give a sense to a community almost by miself right now. But I'm not part of the staff, and since my ban/mute history (which is another story i don't honestly want to bring back again) i think that I will never be, we as players need help, I've always said to the whole staff that if they need a hand about something (even asking "Hey that player got a report for insults what's going on?") I could help, but this is trying to hide a pile of garbage in a tiny carpet. Trying to give a hand it's ok. But what can we do about the pure moderation if we manage to mute a player, or ignore it. And all he have to do is just switchng account. Truth is that those players has been left doing ehatever they want while others have received several bans for " reasons" that are not clear. Aka being muted and switching account and getting instantly banned. Dernière modification le 1436517060000 |
