Masta, if you outline your art, then it's kinda inevitable to go over 20k.
But if you don't, there's no reason for you to go over. I can make very detailed maps with the art just being around 12k capacity.

Mastaoftime a dit :
How do you do this while still staying below 20k? I hit 20k around 30 lines.

This happened for me when I forgot to toggle off the bezier curves.
Either you try, like Epalk said, not to outline your art or maybe you made the same mistake as I did.

If you hit the 20k limit after only 30 lines, my assumption is that you're using bezier curves. These curves are actually a combination of several lines, depending on the fineness you have set. If your fineness is 20, it means one bezier curve consists of 20 lines. Multiply this by 30 and you have 30 bezier curves which are actually 600 seperate lines. I always try to avoid bezier curves for this reason. You can easily create a smooth curve with only 3, 4 or 5 normal lines. These curves don't have to be completely perfect as they're only a small part of your drawing (usually). Imperfection usually looks more authentic too.

In addition to Xelidoni's post, when you're using the bezier curves, generally set its value to 3-7 instead of 20 to use less KB. You can change the value as whatever you want but don't automatically use the bezier curves as 20.

Sorry for not elaborating! You should be able to find the Bezier option at the bottom of the "Draw Tool" window. Be careful with how much lines you put into the "fineness" option because it determines how much individual lines you will be using into that one curve.

Did you use bezier curves? They consist of multiple lines, depending on the fineness you have set.

The fineness tells you how many lines are used to create your bezier curve. If you set your fineness as 5, the Viprin editor will use 5 lines to create one curve. Higher numbers means you will use more lines, which makes your curve look more smooth but it will also mean you'll reach the 20k limit quite quickly. Lower fineness means your curves look relatively less smooth, but it will also mean you can create more bezier curves.

How do I make my map scroll left / right? Does it use up more kb? Also does anyone know how to upload a background that's not one of the default backgrounds in map editor?

Scrolling will add a L parameter into your XML so it'll add around 6 characters, but that's not going to hugely affect the XML size. You can find out to do that here.

You can refer to this tutorial for adding event backgrounds into the editor.

I recommend you post questions which aren't related to Viprin's drawing editor in the Map Editor Q & A.

Hello! I made a non-scrolling map with this editor last 2015. I wanted to edit it now and make it a scrolling map. When I put the very long xml code with the L="1200" thingy in the map editor, it says "This map is invalid". Why does it say this and how can I fix it? Thanks.
