It seems like a nice idea, but I don't support it. Yes, mods could spot the difference or similarities if something were copied and pasted in the beginning, but are they going to sort through 10 or more pages of previously submitted forms every time something seems similar with potential applicants? Doubtful, and it wouldn't be because mods didn't do their jobs, just that it's unrealistic and tiresome to do.

Because it would be undermining the point of English only server to begin with. ;)

Especially since they wouldn't be able to speak the language fluently if they had to copy and paste to begin with.

But how would you determine if they weren't just goofing around or being random and revoked just cause someone wanted to report them?

These are the little things that fall into the gray area and probably why it hasn't been an option.

I'm not going to push the topic farther, but I have seen people take advantage of the fact they're bilingual on the E2 server, multiple times - to which English only is cried out, but it continues.

So, in reality, it wouldn't be fair to a point. White Listers would be held to stricter standards or face perma bans, while people continue to take advantage.

This isn't including mod favos. (It happens.)


As I said, I like the idea, but it sounds like more trouble than it's worth.

they're not gonna be permabanned, they'd just be banned from filing white list requests/speaking on E2 again.

but i mean, that's fair; and i thank you for offering your concerns, honestly. mod favos are a thing i didnt think about if for no other reason than i shouldnt have to but im sure it'd be bound to happen depending on who you report to lol

This is indeed true. To think it is realistic to force everyone to speak only English on E2 (or any other language elsewhere) is a joke. It's already not allowed to speak a different language but English, but we can see people speak foreign languages freely all the time. Threatening to remove people from a white list therefore sounds great on paper, in practice it's nothing more but a pretense.

I have only twice encountered someone persist to speak a language other than English on E2 or any other server in almost seven years.

Once for me and it was promptly handled tbh

Talk to a PH or CZ player once or any other player who plays in a community that doesn't have a large moderation team. They will tell you something different.

i suppose because something takes a lot of work to implement and maintain, it is not worth doing. i hate collective efforts too.

This is a good idea, imo. But it'd be really easy to get white listed since if anyone wanted they could go to anyone who speaks English and ask for a translation and most likely get 'white-listed'. I support it but it'd have to be more than just an introducing yourself test, more like questions and such.

This is a great idea! It makes me sad to see that it was posted in 2015 and today, 3 years later, nothing has changed. I completely support it! I am Brazilian but since I created this account, in 2014, I only play in EN2. Thus, the majority of friends I have made on Transformice play in this server too and I am unable to talk to them normally, as everyone else. The IP block method makes me and many others in a similar situation excluded.

Support. This is simply needed.
