Chapter 11: A New Start

The seven mice eventually woke up, refreshed and feeling better than they had in a long time.
“Oh, thank goodness we could get some sleep!” Snowy cried out happily, now as energetic as ever.
“Let's not waste time, there may not be much left to save the others.” Dakota decided and got up quickly. “Am I correct?”
“Yeah, of course. Hey Fox, I hope you didn't actually stay up that whole time, did you?” Shard asked, remembering that she had not been willing to sleep in such a place.
She took a moment to respond. “Oh, uh... Yeah, I did.” She was turned away a bit and rubbing her face. Shard could tell what was going on and just smiled.
“Is something wrong Fox?” Serafina asked, a bit worried.
“I be sure-y that-y she's fine-o.”
“Uh, y-yeah, what Piry-O said...” she responded timidly, very peculiar for her personality.
Serafina shrugged it off and said, “Let's keep walking, there must be something somewhere.”
Amanda was still yawning, but said, “Yeah, let's keep on going.”
They all started walking, and as Shard walked, he came closer to Foxie until he was practically next to her. She only turned away silently, and Shard only smiled yet again.
“You know it's obvious you're blushing,” he whispered quietly to her to make sure the others didn't hear.
“Shut up.” she said back to him in an angry whisper.
“Hey guys, maybe we should split up and look around a bit, then meet back here.” Snowy said, excited by this idea.
Shard glanced over at Foxie. “Great idea, but we shouldn't all go alone. Let's all go into two groups of two and one of three... Sound alright?”
Foxie squeaked again.
“Good idea!” Serafina said to both Snowy and Shard.
“I'll go with Fox.” Shard smiled, then looked at the red-faced mouse beside him.
Then the group departed. Piry-O and Dakota went one way, Serafina, Snowy, and Amanda another, and Shard and Foxie the only other way.
“Thanks a lot.” Foxie mumbled angrily to Shard.
“I know what you're really thinking, just admit it.” He couldn't help but giggle a bit.
She only turned away. “No... Because that is the truth. So there.”
“Alright then...” He shrugged and walked on with her in silence.
“Say, perhaps we should get to know each other more if we have nothing else to do...” he finally said, breaking the silence.
Foxie only groaned at this suggestion.
