The story of Petalclan

Petalclan was created by members of Flowerclan, which was left due to un-activeness and laziness within the tribe.

Detailed story!

This story mostly revolves around Dawnflower and her family.

The origin

Dawnflower (Dawn_flower9 #3470), along with Yellowfang (Texella #8565) and Reefheart (Treesa #3873) had left Thornclan, which was ruled by the cruel Slashstar. They had journeyed for a long time when they came across a beautiful meadow, filled with flowers. They came across a flower with three petals, and took it as a sign that this is where they should stay. Quite quickly the clan grew in size, and the three founders settled themselves in. Reefheart became Reefstar, and Yellowfang and Dawnflower became deputies. However, it didn't stay perfect forever. The number of kits and apprentices began to rapidly outnumber the warriors, and the warriors grew lazy and didn't respond to the orders of Reefstar and the deputies. Reefstar herself became sick, and barely left her den. While Reefstar had been deteriorating in health, Dawnflower met Jet (Qullar #0000), a handsome tom from Flurryclan. They fell in love and Dawnflower became pregnant with kits. Those kits became Rosekit (Mema_mousy #0000) and Petalkit (Small_mouse #8637).

Leaving Flowerclan

Petalkit chose the path of being a medicine cat, while Rosekit became a warrior quite quickly. Within 12 moons of their birth both cad completed training. After many long chats, Creamypelt (Flamingo #9921), Rosefur, Petalheart and Dawnflower decided it was time to leave Flowerclan. Jet had told them of a stretch of meadow beyond the forest, closer to the mountain range where Flurryclan and Sleetclan lived. When they arrived they found that the new territory was even richer then Flowerclans.

The new beginning

The group had taken the name Petalclan, seeing as they were just a simple petal, falling of a flower. Due to her undying courage and resilience during the great journey, Rosefur was appointed leader, and became Rosestar. Dawnflower became the deputy, while Petalheart became the medicine cat. Up until this day, Petalclan is still going strong.

Ranks of the clan

✿Leader: The top rank, given to the founder and leader of the clan.

✿Deputy: The leaders right hand cat and makes decisions when the leader is away. Given to a founder and long-time member of the clan.

✿Head Medicine cat: A cat who has completed medicine cat training. Given to long-time members of the clan.

✿Experienced warrior: A cat who is trusted by higher ranking cats. Given to long-time and trusted members of the clan.

✿Medicine cat: A cat who has completed medicine cat training. Given to med-cat apprentices once training is completed.

✿Warrior: A cat who has completed warrior training. Given to apprentices once training is complete.

✿Medicine cat apprentice: A cat who is training to be a medicine cat. Given to 6 moon old kits who want to follow the med-cat path.

✿Apprentice: A cat who is training to be a warrior. Given to 6 moon old kits who want to follow the warrior path.

✿Kit:A cat who has just been born into the tribe. Given to kits who are born into the tribe.

✿Newcomer: A cat who has not yet established their place in the clan. Given to a cat who has just joined the clan but is not a kit.

✿Rouge: A cat who has broken a rule. Given to a cat after three rules are broken.

✿Kittypet: A cat who is not part of the clan. Given to an unactive member who has not passed the 2 month limit.

Traits of Petalclan

✿Main breed: Seeing as Petalclan takes in many rogues, it varies, but clan born cats are mostly Norwegian Forest or Maine Coon.

✿ Sub breed: Short-hairs, such as Tabby.

✿ Body type: Lean and muscly, however with quite large whiskers. We dont know why...

✿ Specialities:Running for long distances and pouncing from long distances. Petalclan cats have quite large hind leg muscles.

✿ Hunting: 8/10

✿ Religion: Starclan duh.

✿ Other: Petalclan cats carry the gene for blue eyes, and a lot of cats have blue eyes.

✿Prey: Meadow animals such as shrews and voles. Many birds also live in the meadow area.Prey from the forest include squirrels and sometimes rabbits.

✿Predators: Foxes roam the forest and meadows, and are a big problem for Petalclan cats. Badgers also live in the forest. Watch out!

✿Traditions: Petalclan cats weave meadow flowers between their bedding, to make themselves smell nice. A mother will pick flowers for her kits until they are apprentices. When a cat becomes an elder, their kin picks their flowers for them. Warriors who are interested in each other will use flowers to court the other. Petalclan medicine cats also use sweet smelling flowers to soothe sick cats, as poppy seeds are spare in the territory. Before a new leader is given their nine lives at Moonpool, the clan weave's a crown of flowers, with one cat picking a flower each, even kits and elders.The leader to-be then dips the crown into Moonpool, and Starclan preserves it, then returns it to the leader.So basically everyone loves flowers.

The clan's territory

Petalclan's territory is mostly meadow, with multiple stream running through it. Surrounded by forest on both sides, and situated near the mountains of Sleetclan and Flurryclan. The meadowland is vast and is pretty all year round. In Winter a layer of ice covers the creeks and a shroud of snow causes the flowers to go dormant. But everything returns in Spring, and the cycle of the meadow begins again.

The camp itself is a hollow where the forest edge meets the meadow. The dens are holes in rocks, which have been carved out by the wind and rain over many many moons.

To the left is the high rock, where the leader delivers messages. Above there is another set of dens, the deputies and leaders.

On the left side of this rock is a small opening, which leads to the medicine cat den. Continuing down that tunnel is Moonpool, Petalclans own personal way to talk to Starclan. To the right side is the nursery. A natural barrier provents anyone from getting in, and only Petalclan cats know the way in.

This is the creek that leads to Moonpool.

The warriors sleep in the small dints in the cliffside on the meadow side of camp, always ready to protect their clan.

To the end of Petalclans territory (opposite end from the mountains) is a twoleg park, where they use small monsters and weird hitting sticks to play moss ball. Twolegs are very weird!

Rules of the clan

To ensure that everyone gets along and that there is no trouble, here are some basic rules:

✿Use English in the tribe chat and camp at all times.

✿Listen to recruitment status (no recruiting when status:closed).

✿No overpowered RP unless RP authority allows it.

✿Keep RP violence to a minimum, and only kill when consent from other players is given.

✿Make everyone feel welcome.

The punishments for breaking these rules are:

✿Unactiveness: Rank reduced to Kittypet.

✿ One rule: delayed apprenticeship/ final assesment.

✿Two rules: taken down a rank.

✿Three rules: Rank changed to Rogue for a ranging period of time.

Extra stories

You have wandered your way around camp for sometime, but all of a sudden you find yourself looking into a big dint in the side of a rock. A beautiful calico she-cat looks down at you with friendly eyes. "Hello there kit. Come for some of Dawnstar's famous stories? Ok, well settle down, because I like to take my sweet time."

Rosestar's leadership ceremony.

"You probably know by now that Rosestar is the leader around here. She is a sweet kind she-cat, and believe it or not, she is my kit, along with Petalheart, the medicine cat. She has been the leader of Petalclan since it's birth, but not everyone knows about her leadership ceremony. Petalheart had only just found Moonpool a few days before, but she had seen in her dreams, two cats crouching beside it, with one shaking with courage and power. She knew at once what she had witnessed was a leadership ceremony, and rushed to inform me and Rosestar. At that time, me and Creamypelt had been exploring the meadows and the flowers. We had found that many of them smelt lovely, and they perfumed you if you rolled in them. It was Creamypelt herself who had thought that using them for bedding would leave you smelling nice in the morning. We eagerly tried the idea out, and to our happiness, it worked. That was the first of many Petalclan traditions to arise. But back to Rosestar. While waiting for the moon to set, and for Rosestar and Petalheart to leave, we began to absentmindedly weave the flowers moving tree branches. We found a way to make it into a circular shape, which fitted perfectly onto Rosestar's head. Finally, the moon had risen, and the two set off to Moonpool. Everything went as planned, and Rosestar went to dip her nose to the icy water when her crown fell off! She had completely forgotten that she had it! However, she had already slipped into her ceremony. When Rosestar woke up in Starclan's territory, she was given the crown back by Lilysong, her deceased grandmother, my mother. Lilysong had told her that flowers signified Petalclan, her life and the life of all her cats. She told Rosestar that from now on, when a new leader was to have their ceremony, the whole clan would pick a flower. The deputy and the medicine cat would weave all the flowers into a crown, and when it was time for the new leader to dip their nose to Moonpool, they would also let their crown slide into the water, and be transported with them. Every time a cat of Petalclan died, the flower that cat had weaved in would die too, but when a new kit was born, it would weave its own flower into the crown, thus completing the circle of life in Petalclan. When a leader themselves died, the whole crown would die, and then a new one would be made. It's a great story, one of my favourites actually. Of course there is more, but this is definetley one that defines Petalclan.

As Dawnstar wraps up her story, another she-cat wanders into the den. "I thought I would find you here Dawnstar, slacking off while everyone else works hard!".
You watch as the two she-cats tease each other, and wonder who the brown and white one is. Then you recognise her as Creamypelt. She had visited you when you were just a small kit. "Well" continues Dawnstar "I was just about to tell this kit about Petalheart's struggles!"
"Let me tell this one." says Creamypelt, "I know it well."

Petalheart's struggle

"Do you remember when you had a stomach ache, and Petalheart wove those soothing flowers into your nest? Well it was only with a great struggle that she found out what that flower did. About a quarter moon after we arrived at the territory a strange and unknown sickness started to attack us. Petalheart had never seen this sickness before and didn't know how to treat it. How she stressed and stressed! But because of some quick thinking on, erm, my behalf, we found a herb to treat it. There is a pretty yellow flower named dandelion, which cured the sickness. Rosestar herself almost lost a life to that sickness! The meadow is a wild place, full of new herbs. Maybe you might choose the path of the Medicine Cat and find some new herb.
