Well what's the point in rating this game PG13 if (some) content obviously isn't appropriate? Raising the bar is much easier than trying to remove all the inappropriate content since we all know that's not possible and not going to be possible. Ever. Not to mention that this hypothetical change doesn't mean minors will suddenly stop playing Transformice. Even if you remove the café you'll still have the same community who will find other ways to share their inappropriate thoughts.

From a parents' point of view, is it really that bad if Transformice loses players when those players evidently are not old enough to be exposed to certain content on Transformice?

I say it should be linked to the forums so it can be more easily moderated. When the mods are offline, the cafe is very inappropriate. I think if the posts weren't deleted if they're the 21th topic so the mods would be able to see the topic so anyone in the cafe doesn't try anything. And if you don't like the cafe, then don't click on the cafe!

There are always going to be those few perverted people. There are people like that who play every game.

That doesn't mean everyone on the Cafe is peverted. There are a lot of good people who regularly go on the Cafe.
I myself view the cafe as half of Transformice. I go on the Cafe very often and roleplay/chat with my friends or soon to be friends. I've met several of my TFM friends there, and found a very good tribe there, I honestly would be very disappointed if the Cafe is removed.

Though maybe TFM could add a report button to the topics? People would report a topic and a mod would check to see if it is appropriate or not.

The age restriction is not for the COMMUNITY, but the game. The gameplay of Transformice is easy and fun, because all you have to do is to just gather the cheese and go back to the hole and you have option to build your own map or customize your mouse. No gore is involved, probably a slight violence because cannons and all but there is no need for it to be restricted to 18 years old.

Anyways, have you ever faked your age into something online? no..??

You can't seperate the community from the gameplay. Transformice isn't just grabbing a cheese and bringing it to the hole, it actually involves a lot of mice to mice interaction (Co-op maps, shamans, transformation maps, etc). This is where the community comes in. Except for bootcamp the community is pretty much essential in every part of the game.

But the intention for these cooperation are not destructive, they are there to help people. The intended purpose was to bond players through teamwork and friendship and just have fun. Even if I was young i would be able to know the concept of sharing and caring, there is nothing you have to give an age restriction for.

The only problem is just the community's attitude NOT ONLY online but in real life.

But lets put that aside, lets think of a business perspective. Assuming Transformice demand is high, if we put the new age limit, won't it make it worse? You are not really subsiding the effect because it encourages young players to just fake their age online or new players that are young would be curious to know why is it such a high age limit and would want to join too. And lets assume again that that did not happen and all the young people stop playing Transformice. 801 is going to lose profit. People that are 18+ knows that at this age, money is important and we are more self-aware on how we spend our money (well, most of us), with lesser audience and people more reluctant to buy fraises, they cannot make a profit, they will starve. You can tell them to make something new but it takes time and survival.

Ratings don't look at what a game is intended to be, they look at what a game is. Again it all comes down to the community, which means you can't seperate the community from the gameplay.

From a bussiness perspective, research shows that in most games 18+ players spend more money than minors (you can google it). Being afraid 18+ players will spend less money will not be the problem here. However your right when you say it's likely that the playerbase will decrease if the age limit is raised. This is exactly why this game is still seen as PG-13, to attract (younger) players who have a longer playtime than adults. But it doesn't excuse the fact that minors are still exposed to a lot of stuff they shouldn't be exposed to.

Except the difference is that when you make a game 18+, you don't have the responsibility to take into account minors, because you specifically notice players that the game can contain mature content. The fact minors fake their age online is not the game's fault and as such they're not accountable for what happens when minors do log in on an 18+ game.

i like the cafe
people do a lot of roleplays on there and its really fun
tho it has some unfiltered messages sometimes i try to ignore it

i have a lot of time currently and go on cafe every time i get on transformice
plus they could monitor what people r doing

I've been on cafe for a few months, and I don't care that it's unmoderated a lot. It gives us a place to chill and not worry about some forum rules. It also gives us a break from the tryhards and noob shamans that roam my favorite modes. It shouldn't be removed.

Keep the cafe. Just add some moderation and maybe things will turn out better

as much as i hate the cafe it keeps those assholes over there and not over here (so much) so keep

I like café just the role plays an so an sometimes nice people go there an make good topics but I don't like the gross people I used to café when I was really bored it was fun sometimes but I dunno..

The cafe is a problem to children just as much as chat is. The removal is unnecessary.
