Thebndjames a dit :
Hello, I was banned from bouboom for loging in while using a VPN from Norvege (Reason = Hack), What should i do beside reporting in the Report page/Irc?
And if my bouboum account was banned, does that also apply for my transformice acount?

Generally it's because someone else used the VPN to evade a ban so the IP the VPN itself uses is banned? So basically using it gets your account in trouble. If you wait it out it should be fine I think.
It happened to a friend before so this is a really rough explanation of how I understand it works.

So the use of VPNs is not banned but sadly anyone who uses it is just subject to the issue that others may have used it for abuse.

So...it has been on my mind for quite a while. Why Players vs Staff is allowed? Is it because it's like a traditional game on forums (any)? Is it because it was made before the first rule came out? Would anything similar be allowed now? I'm neutral about the thread and I have nothing against it, it even gives me laughs sometimes. It just feels like a lil' mistery to me.

Anyways, if somewhere in the future the thread would become abused will it be shut down?

It was actually made after the 'No count to X' rule. Although it is similar to counting games, the fact that players compete against staff adds an extra element of surprise and competitiveness.

We (EN sentinels) agreed to keep a close watch on the thread, and monitor for any abuse. We continue to do so, and may lock the thread if any abuse is discovered.

Honestly speaking it's not any different from a count to x thread in all honesty.
It has the goal, count as much as possible, and a reset condition which makes people want to join in aka a staff posting.
I like that game thread but I honestly do see it as something that could possibly be breaking the rules.
by watch the thread do you mean participate and make our life harder to get to higher numbers +_+ , I guess y'all like the game too don't you.

Hi, I've have an important question.

Recently there are a couple of players that managed to steal a good number of accounts, some of them email locked them and changed the password, some other just went into those accounts and got them banned. There are right now players that have +10 stolen accoints and with that they can evade bans and create a lot of confusion.

As far as we more experienced players are trying to explain that you never have to share your password a lot of kids aren't listening to us.

Is there an official way to deal and report effectively to a mod, adding proof that a player is trying to scam others? If so, what kind of proof we have to bring?

Thanks in advance for the reply!

They make promises they'll make firsts/bootcamps or will buy fraises for them. Quite simple to fool. Registering mails or hacking on those accounts after it's easy peasy. There was something similar on RO before staff.

so they were told the password? I have little sympathy for these people...

doesn't negate that phising is against the rules and the people making these promises should be punished

Problem is that the italian server is full of 8-10 YO players and basically a kid can be fooled around, basically they gather information about a player from people and start menacing them sayin "I know who you are, here's some info about you [...] now give me your account or I'll hack your pc and have you banned".
I know this sounds stupid, they tried this """Scam""" with me but as I am a +18 smart payers, kids can be easily be scared and fooled around.
You have to consider from the perspective of a kid.

As I'm sure you know, a moderator can't do anything about it unless they see the scammer asking for passwords first hand. The most we can do to help people from being scammed like this is linking them to a thread like How to protect your account? and assure them that they won't be "hacked" by not giving their password.

The only real solution I see here is to spread awareness of account security.

That'd be awesome! Please do.

edit: You can speak with Layora about stickying it but posting a translated thread should not be a problem.

Ifrancesco, wouldn't that be more of social engineering? It's hard because it's not really "hacking", just really pressuring them for their password...

The ToS stated that you have to be 13 years or older to play the game OR have parents' permission. Tbh I feel like it's fault at their side if there are the little ones who are being tricked, but yeah definitely more people should know more about account safety and such.

The problem is that there are players that steal accounts, it happened to players that are actually +13, some of them were in my friendist (18+ only)
There are ways any ways to scam, this includes acting as friend until somebody during time he gives away the password. In small servers like our, this is something that could happen, we're 50-ish players and we know each other because we alll play in the same room most of the time, and we know who stole whose account. And there are A LOT of stolen accounts.

There was a player (seems he stopped playing recently, all thanks to Hirunda that has spent WEEKS banning him 5-6 times everyday) that had at least 10 stolen accounts each one of them with lots of furs, a little knowledge of ToR, and the will to steal accounts and having his "enemies", whose account were stolen banned for players like this hacking with one account ad being banned is not a big deal, because he can easily change it into another and have always at least a good account to play with.

hmmm, still don't see why if someone acts like your friend for weeks/months/years you feel the need to share your password with them.

it's like, in the human world, you wouldn't share your bank account details and logins with the guys you go out drinking with.

still no sympathy from me, but i'm very very in favor of forcing people to read a bullet point version of the rules or something when they make their account or every 1000 hours played to remind them. People clearly do need to be aware of the fact that sharing password is against the rules and will have no mod support if you lose your acount to it .Make them tick a "i understand" button and then if they're the kind of person who just skips through the rules, ticks yes-i-read-them and THEN loses their account by password sharing, they shouldn't really be here anyway

Is there a way you can get cheese faster? And the higher rank you are, the more skills you have, correct?

You can probably try playing in racing mode since rounds last 1 minute instead of 2; there are also /facebook and changing your password for the first time giving a bit of cheese, but that's all. ^^'

Each level up gives you one skill point you can spend in the Skills menu, so the higher level you reach the more skills you can have indeed. :)

Another viable way is to play in a "private" vanilla with a friend with the teleport skill to earn fast cheese, since not all players can complete every single map :P
